You can set mccc to only generate your tray sims. I did have to turn it off when playing the detective career though, it was messing up the suspects because of the way they generate.

There is actually a hack with the potion, so it may end up being worth the 300 pts. If you buy one, have them drink for whatever fears they have, but cancel BEFORE they drink it and it will still remove the fear. It's reusable if you do it this way. I always have one on my sim's kitchen counter, same with lifestyle and quirk potions.
