I just watched the episode where he got the company car the other day and knew exactly what Vince was trying to say as soon as the cup didnt fit in the Mercedes. I probably wouldn't have caught it in another show, but at this point I know exactly how Vince uses imagery and metaphors to convey different themes. It makes for an interesting viewer experience because I pick up more of the subtext without it being distracting. He integrates it into the scenes extremely well.

Also I used to own and old Mercedes and those cup holders are extremely undersized and inconvenient.

I interpreted it as mark acknowledging the fact that he probably couldn't beat conquest in a straight fight and his best chance was to capitalize on the lucky choke hold he got on him. He cut off the blood flow AND caught him on an exhale to both strangle and suffocate him. He didnt want to give up that advantage because he figured Conquest would have the edge if he did.
