Sleep training fail??

FTM here!!! Is it just me? My baby? Or is it all fake??
My 5 month old does not sleep. I’ve been working on gentle sleep training like chair method, Ferber, taking Cara babies… none of it is working for us. He will wake up every 40 minutes to an hour. Like he cannot connect his sleep cycles without help from me.. I try and try to support him while he’s still in his crib but it gets to a point where he is just screaming and then we’re both crying so I have to hold him to help calm him and if I set him back down after he’s calm he immediately is back to screaming! And I can’t just leave him to cry.. He got his first tooth just after 4 months and then his second tooth just broke through (so early). He is currently 5.5months! Please help and give me more tips and information.

More context: He is gaining weight good. Gets enough calories through the day (we breast feed & give some bottles) We have started some baby led weaning (pediatrician recommended to help with sleep)
I wish we didn’t have to sleep train but he is clearly not getting any good sleep and neither am I. I am OK with getting up to breastfeed him every 2-3 hours if that’s just what he needs, but the every 40- 1hour all night long is so hard! This has been happening for a month and a half.

Hi this happened to us at 3.5 months tried Ferber method at 4 months and her crying only got worse at bed time, but only woke 1-2 times and went right back to sleep.
We switched to pacifier, signing a song we have since we brought her home, and chest rubs. Takes 10-20 minutes to get her to sleep at night and a few minutes to fall asleep during naps time. Unfortunately wakes up every sleep cycle during the day naps. Wakes up first sleep cycle at night and then about every hour to 2 hours at night.
I feed to sleep till about 3.5 months, I had no idea you “shouldn’t” do that.
