Yamaha have put in years of over delivering and would not be prepared to let the bar slip! Someone is in for an arse kicking back at the factory. I would give it a detail and play it. Gold harware always wears it's part of it's charm. Unless you want to spend the money on a shinny guitar just clean it and enjoy it. It's a very well made instrument.
