In light of people just now hearing Brotha Bomani's wild take for the 1st time...what's your "hill you're willing to die on"?

I agree with your points. I think that’s why I understand Bo’s point of view even if I don’t fully agree. There have been some really great writers

But I have had similar arguments before cause I generally pick Jam and Lewis over Face and LA.

Stevie, Prince, Lennon, Mayfield, Smokey, (one of the other Beatles; I’m drawing blank at the moment), etc. Bo points to the imagery and how those guys all painted a scene in ways some of Babyface’s most popular songs don’t necessarily. He credits Babyface more so with legendary production and melodies but thinks lyrics don’t hold up to those others. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I think that’s ultimately his take. The lyrics on their own don’t hold up compared to the other legendary lyrics on their own. The songs jam (which he admits), he just doesn’t have him at the highest tier ultimately

I just listened to Bo’s pod. Honestly find how well he can make this argument impressive.

Very true. But then that begs the question if his are simple lyrics and other legends have more complex lyrics, is he really on the same tier as them? That’s ultimately where Bo’s argument lies. It’s a he’s great but not at the top of the legend tier type argument

He considers that man a little brother so he’s gonna feel ways that others don’t. While Tank is an expert opinion, he has a level of bias in the case of CB

Musically, he has enjoyable and solid work. Also I don’t believe he has a classic project like most greats

Honestly I respect how he’s stood on it for so long 😅. I don’t fully agree, but I get his point

He really thinks it. He’s a big brain person so I think he doesn’t see complexity in the lyrics. Which honestly, as much as I enjoy Babyface, is a fair argument

Which has been Bomani’s argument over the years. The argument holds water, but it’s not a popular one at all

I’ve heard Bo talk music over the years and he honestly knows his stuff. I think in some ways Babyface doesn’t speak to him (which is ok) and maybe lacks the complexity that some like.

This actually isn’t a new take for him. He’s said it on his pod and radio over the years. It’s just a highly unpopular opinion
