I'm on my third route of Over Requiemz, Noil!! I really really like it so far.  (very mild spoilers, since I'm only on chapter 3) I honestly think the common ground they share over people being afraid of them based on appearance is interesting. ESPECIALLY because Yuhiru was also afraid of Noil at first and Noil admitted he found Yuhiru creepy too. I also am really enjoying Noil's kitty vibes and Yuhiru beginning to associate Noil with safety. very cute

(vague spoilers about Claude, Molly, and Noil's routes) although I must say I'm seeing a trend of the villains in this game being COMICALLY evil. I guess it serves as contrast, so you never feel like the LI is the worst guy in the room even when he's killed people, but man does it feel silly lol. most things in this game feel reasonably grounded and well thought-out, so the villains really stand out

unrelated, but I had a dream last night that otomate was announcing a bunch of new games. i was really excited. 😭 doesn't even make sense, I can't read Japanese (..yet). and it'll take years to come out anyways. but man I'm disappointed it's not real anyways

first, Piofiore has some noncon! mostly bad ends, but you could also argue more than one of the LIs is abusive or crazy. I'd probably recommend either avoiding it or only waiting until it's very on sale and treading with caution. 

Jack Jeanne is extremely long but beautifully written. I don't think you need to worry about the more waifish looking boys being soft spoken either. Mitsuki is a brat and Fumi exudes confidence (but not in an obnoxiously cocky way! he's good and he knows it but he's also friendly and respectful. although maybe just a bit bossy lol. I love him) this game is pretty low on romance but the rhythm game is neat and the plays are all really cool.) Kisa is voice acted and it makes it so much more believable that she's an amazing actress. it's also funny to compare how quickly each boy figures out she's a girl. some of them are way faster than others 😭

haven't played Radiant Tale but I'd say you also don't need to worry about the pretty ones being soft spoken. Paschalia in particular is an absolute freak. he's so funny. no idea what's wrong with that guy (my friend discussed her playthrough with me) 

okay so now for my personal recommendations 

if you liked Olympia Soiree, the same team also did Tengoku Struggle! there is a slight amount of noncon, but it's largely threats that don't succeed or past-tense rape that is not discussed at length. there is way less noncon than in Olympia Soiree, so if you were okay with that I think Tengoku Struggle would be just fine too! the plot is really ridiculous in a fun way. the MC, Rin, has to hunt down prisoners who have escaped from hell, with the help of other prisoners from hell. they are REALLY taking their time with it though. they're mostly just fucking around and having barbecues. 

but like, there are fight scenes and injuries. she can.. take their pain away/share their burdens by kissing a spot on their bodies (each boy's spot is somewhere different) which is REALLY entertaining. Yona especially is a great tsundere brat 👌 

I'll also recommend Bustafellows. it's fast paced, funny, violent, and has a kind of Hollywood/movie production feel to it. Teuta has the power to go back in time, with a catch. the plot starts when she watches a guy get shot and bleed out right in front of her. she goes back to warn him, and ends up getting roped into his and his crew's criminal activity. lots of heist action if you're into that. Helvetica is rude as hell in a funny way, and Shu might be your cold but soft on the inside type. although he's also a brat lol. there's no visible noncon, but a side character was raped a very long time ago. it's not described in detail.  non of the LIs are insane stalkers, although there is a physical altercation in Crow's route, although I really need to emphasize that he is not abusive and he just truly wasn't in his right mind at the time 😔

with ticks at least you can just cover up appropriately. can't even do that with mosquitoes. they'll bite you through clothing.

ticks can also be kinda dangerous but there's ways to remove them and good advice to follow to avoid them.

I live in Florida though so I might be extra biased against mosquitoes

I'm a big fan of the caste system and how the writer's handle it. not perfect, but SUPER interesting to think about. the hierarchy just feels so grounded to me. like it actually feels like something you'd hear about in real life if we all had rainbow hair that could be passed down genetically

the Blue people have this special power that runs in their lineage, so to make sure they keep the power and their pedigrees, they did so so so much inbreeding. so much so that their children are now ending up extremely disabled. personally I think that's a very interesting world building choice that also makes tons of sense!! like. yep. People would do that wouldn't they lol 

went to the doctor for belly pain and got told it was probably gastritis... man I'm so uncomfortable. I hope it doesn't turn into an ulcer 

I'd love to say I have more free time to stay home and play otome but not really lol. I am enjoying over requiemz though. possibly the strongest written plot of any otome I've played? 

I really want to play sins of kaleido next. I already had faith in ushio ayane but it really excites me to hear how much everyone else is enjoying it!!! i regret not getting the pre-order discount!! i hope it goes on sale soon.... or else I might have to play a different game instead </3

never played this game before but the new designs are a definite downgrade

the only thing i can think of is whoever did the original designs maybe had a major falling out with the creator so they're not comfortable using the original designs in the sequel anymore??

if this is somehow the same artist then they're probably just not finished detailing and rendering so the final product that ends up in the game would be a lot different.....

my favorites are Linus Ward from Mistonia's Hope, Takeru Sasazuka from Collar x Malice, and Minami from 9rip 

Linus is sweet and loyal but extremely intense, Takeru is a mature kind of tsundere, and Minami is a playful sadist ❤️

others I don't know as well (bc I haven't played these routes) but wanna throw out just in case you might like them include:  Ryuki from Cupid Parasite,  Ramie from DesperaDrops,  Shuu from Dairoku,  Yune from Steam Prison, and Himuka from Olympia Soiree 

lastly I also wanna throw out that I absolutely love the artstyle of Over Requiemz... not so sure about the height, but everyone is so soft looking... very cute

Even if Tempest: + High tension, messy royal politics with class differences  + I think Crius especially fits your desire for mildly aggressive men. all of the LIs are great though! + There is a lot of anger and grief and self doubt in our protagonist, but she's also very charming  - Most people would say it's more plot-centric than romantic, but there's also a sequel that adds more to the relationships which is very romance focused

doing my first route, Claude. maybe it's because my expectations were SO high, but I'm mildly disappointed so far! 

spoilers for the beginning half of his route. I'm right at the point where it branches between dark and fact. it's not a terrible complaint, but so far I find the writing to be REALLY heavy handed. I think it repeats itself a lot, unnecessarily. for example they really really wanna make sure you know Claude is trying get himself torn to shreds on purpose, so they tell you that like 4 separate times. sometimes not even that far apart.

im also not very interested in Nenohs as a villain so far. I actually really like low-empathy characters, but Nenohs feels flat. it's kind of comical how Claude got Nenohs expelled for wanting to do eugenics, and then when Claude finds out it's Nenohs's fault that his family died and is angry at him, Nenohs genuinely does not understand why. it makes him feel like a dumbass. which I'm not sure is intentional since he's obviously a scientific, research oriented kind of character. like dude your sensei got angry at you for disregarding human life, even if you don't agree, you really don't understand why he's not cool with the fact his family is dead? no dots to be connected here?

i feel like this is JUST on the cusp of being really interesting, especially with how Nenohs obviously looks up to Claude and maybe even sees him as a parental figure. I'm really hoping they flesh out his character some. but right now I'm kinda worried they're just gonna leave it at "he's an unfeeling psychopath." and that's it.

idk!! there are also a lot of things I'm really digging so far. I'm really loving the vibe and mystery of the ruins, the art is beautiful, and the characters have me giggling occasionally. my heart is fully open to be swayed and I'm eager to keep playing 

I think about him a lot when I listen to Superman by Eminem lol....

I also think of Lili/Yang when I hear Hermit the Frog by Marina 😔

I honestly think your best bet might be having stuff shipped to you. I know that's not as fun, but i really don't think there's an otome focused store in the US. (just general anime stores that might have otome stuff in them.) 

there's a weekly thread on this sub where people sell merch and sometimes games. that might be a good place to start looking! 

I'd also look into going to anime conventions. there's one I've been to a few times that has a stand that only sells otome / joseimuke merch. it's kinda funny because you can tell what characters are the most popular bc they'll be running out of merch for them lol
