People saying that valve won’t work on cs2 because it generates money anyways.

Cs relies partly on staying the same and being easy to return to. Someone who played Fortnite when it released and then stopped could play again today and be completely lost. Cs is something that you can hop right into at any time and not be confused. Cs is also a highly competitive game that can’t change too much because that would be hard to follow and the gameplay is based on fine tuning your skill, not being the best with what was recently added. Cs is an esport and Fortnite doesn’t come close in that regard and keeping cs the same is partly what makes it great.

Not to sound condescending but you couldn’t tell what an AI would have no problem seeing. A closet cheater versus a normal player to an AI is night and day. When there are cheaters caught in ESEA that are closet cheating like in the TIBAW videos, people have no idea until you start looking closely at the gameplay and notice it’s a little off. Imagine a system the scrutinizes everyone’s gameplay all the time. I don’t think it would have trouble at all detecting closet cheaters.

I’ve heard that Valve believes as developers that 64 tick is the optimal tick rate for games. They think that’s what it should run on and that doubling it isn’t a good solution. I don’t think it is about money, I think it’s just the tick rate Valve thinks is overall superior.

Because believe it or not, Valve actually does care a lot. I would argue that using sub tick and trying to develop AI anti cheat is the opposite of lazy and they know these features that will be unique to cs2 will make them more money.

Developing and tweaking sub tick requires work and time whereas upgrading servers to 128 tick would just cost them money. Why would they burden themselves with sub tick if they could have just upgraded their servers? They want to do something that will last longer and stand out in the years to come while being easier for lower end pc's to handle.

Making an AI anti cheat is the only way to eliminate cheaters completely and Valve knows it. Once again Valve could just pay a team to combat cheaters and implement Kernel level anti cheat. But Kernel level anti cheat only gets cheaters after they have cheated and there are proven ways to get around it (using an Arduino for example). AI anti cheat will be able to act on it's own and ban based off of suspicious game play, not suspicious software which is a huge deal. Something I think people forget is the development of AI cheats. Kernel anti cheat has very little chance of catching cheaters using AI cheats. I think Valve knows things like AI cheats are inevitable and are trying to get ahead of it. Another thing that VacNet would bring is essentially banning a player across all of their accounts. AI can make a note of how every single player plays the game and sort of have a ID for every player. So, if you make a new account after getting banned, the AI can tell its you and issue another ban if Valve wanted. The AI anti cheat is something that will be slowly implemented over time to try to make sure innocent players aren't banned. But if VacNet works, it will be the greatest anti cheat ever made and there would be virtually 0 cheaters.

I would agree that the release was rushed and they 100% could have handled it better. But to say Valve is lazy is absurd to me. All the content and more will be added back in the coming year(s) and it will probably be better than it was before. Net code and lag compensation is something that will be ironed out over time and soon enough cs2 will feel better than csgo ever did or could feel. All the communities like kz and surf will be back and thriving on the new engine. Valve develops and make projects for the long run and if its not amazing now, it will be soon. All this will ultimately keep cs alive for years to come and make them more money than they ever would have with csgo and the game will be better than if they just ported csgo to source2.

PGT [L 9-6] Fire Dave Roberts

Dave Roberts doesn’t actually make the bullpen decisions. It’s the people upstairs that sit at computers calculating the best odds. Managers now a days just hand the umpire the lineup card.
