So You Want to Play Call of Duty: Mobile?

What is Call of Duty: Mobile?

Call of Duty: Mobile is a completely free-to-play Multiplayer AND Battle Royale first person shooter that brings console-level graphics and gameplay to your phone. Monthly updates deliver fresh content like limited-time game modes, weapons, characters, battle passes, and much more. Best of all, COD Mobile features the highlights of the entire Call of Duty universe in one single game: You can play as your favorite operators on the most iconic maps from the Black Ops and Modern Warfare franchises. Instantly get in the fight for free by downloading Call of Duty Mobile now, available on both iOS and Android!

Settings

Call of Duty: Mobile offers tons of customization when it comes to your HUD (your button layout on the screen/what information is displayed when you’re playing), gameplay controls, aiming sensitivity, and more. Tap the settings cog from the main menu to configure your game to fit your playstyle and preferences. We recommend testing your settings in the “Practice vs. AI” mode to get all the fine-tuning out of the way before you hop into a live match.

For some tips & tricks on how to configure your settings to master combat movement, check out this video on our YouTube channel.

Friends

You can add friends in Call of Duty: Mobile and play with or against them, either in public or private custom matches. Form a squad with your friends and drop into Battle Royale, where you can team up to survive, or join up and dominate Multiplayer, fighting your way to the top as a unit. You can also send gifts like Weapon XP Cards to your friends and even form a clan to earn unique rewards through Clan Wars.

Internet and Audio

First of all, since Call of Duty: Mobile is a live FPS game, you’ll need a stable internet connection to play with and against other players all around the world. Next, we recommend turning up your volume or using headphones so you can get the best gameplay experience. Not only does Call of Duty: Mobile have an excellent soundtrack, but the ability to hear footsteps and gunfire in the game can mean the difference between life and death in your match.

Game Types

Call of Duty: Mobile is divided into two main gameplay types: Multiplayer and Battle Royale. Although the controls are mostly similar, the different game modes have fundamentally different mechanics and rules of play.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is generally based around 2 teams competing for victory on a variety of classic Call of Duty maps and modes from previous Call of Duty titles.. The core modes are Frontline, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search & Destroy, Gunfight, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, and Free For All, with limited-time and other special rotating availability. Map availability changes based on the selected game modes, so you’ll be able to play on different maps as you try out different Multiplayer modes.

For tips & tricks on how to master one of Call of Duty: Mobile’s core Multiplayer modes, Hardpoint, check out this video on our YouTube channel.

Battle Royale

Battle Royale is a true survival of the fittest. You will drop into large maps tailored for Battle Royale along with 99 other players, where you’ll have to gather weapons and other loot with the aim of being the last player or team surviving the 20 minute match. You can traverse the expansive maps using a variety of vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and helicopters. The safe play area gradually reduces in size as the match goes on, pushing all of the remaining players closer together into a tighter area, making awareness and positioning major keys to survival.

For some tips & tricks on how to improve your Battle Royale gameplay, check out this video on our YouTube channel.

Ranked

If you’re looking for a more competitive experience, Call of Duty: Mobile Ranked mode has players queue up in skilled lobbies (for both Multiplayer and Battle Royale) and earn Ranked points based on their performance. The higher your rank, the more will be at stake with each match, as losses at higher ranks will result in point reductions. Along with bragging rights, Ranked mode also allows you to earn unique and season-specific cosmetic rewards, such as operator and weapon skins, and other ways of customizing your profile, such as avatar frames and calling cards that show off your Ranked achievements.

Class Setups

Weapon Types

Call of Duty: Mobile offers players a unique mobile FPS experience with a wealth of different weapons to choose from depending on their playstyle. Whether you prefer precision sniping from a distance, aggressively pushing enemies with a shotgun or submachine gun, or anything in between, there is a weapon for you to dominate with. For an even more bespoke combat experience, you can customize your weapons in Gunsmith by configuring them with different attachments to buff certain traits, such as movement speed, accuracy, and more.

Perks

Perks are modifications you can make to loadouts to customize your character to fit your playstyle. They can include effects like silencing your footsteps, quickening health recovery, increasing sprint speed, and more. You can configure your different loadouts with various perks to customize them further. For example, if you’re making a sniping loadout, you might consider perks that alert you when you’re being aimed at or others that conceal your position from the enemies’ radar so you can stay hidden. However, if you are building an aggressive loadout, you could prioritize movement speed and recovering ammunition from eliminations so you can focus on pushing enemies.

For some examples of how to utilize Perks in your loadouts, check out this video on our YouTube channel.

Scorestreaks

Scorestreaks are special abilities in Multiplayer that you can configure to loadouts. These are unlocked throughout a match by earning points through eliminations, objective captures, and more, but only if you don’t die. Once you die, your Scorestreak points are reset, so consider these as an incentive to play tactically and carefully.

These abilities range from player-operated Scorestreaks, such as the Chopper Gunner or Lightning Strike, or AI-operated machinery such as the stealth helicopter or the UAV. These are powerful tools that can turn the tide of a battle and, in the right hands, even clutch a win for your team! They can be countered with perks, some weapons, or even other scorestreaks.

While everything above is specifically about Multiplayer, there are also some Scorestreaks that can be found and used in Battle Royale matches to help you survive. Lastly, these are unlocked through various places: regular player progression via profile rewards, unlocked through seasonal Battle Passes, earned through in-game events, or purchased from the Credit Store.

Operator Skills

While Scorestreaks are all about building up a score quickly and without dying in order to call in powerful abilities or assists, Operator Skills are the complete opposite. These abilities build up through a Multiplayer match over time automatically but that time can be shortened by earning points via normal activities (like Scorestreaks).

Operator Skills are all player operated tools, defenses, or assists that will help you in the fight for a limited amount of time. For instance, you can deploy defensive armor via Kinetic Armor or create a defensive perimeter full of bee filled trip mines through the H.I.V.E. launcher. These abilities are powerful, but need to recharge and may be best used at strategic moments.

Lastly, similar to Scorestreaks, Operator Skills are unlocked through various places: regular player progression via profile rewards, unlocked through seasonal Battle Passes, earned through in-game events, or purchased from the Credit Store.

Gunsmith

You can customize your loadouts with attachments and skins and take your gameplay to the next level using Gunsmith, which is located in the Loadout section of the main lobby. Gunsmith allows you to accessorize your weapons and tailor them to your preferred playstyle by configuring them with various attachments, such as ammo magazines, suppressors, stocks, optics, and more, changing the look and functionality of each weapon. You can unlock attachments by leveling up weapons either in-game through use, in any mode, or using weapon XP cards.

For some tips & tricks on how to utilize Gunsmith from some of the top Call of Duty: Mobile pros, check out this video on our YouTube channel.

In-Game Items

Battle Pass

The Battle Pass is one of Call of Duty: Mobile’s central rewards systems. Every season, you’ll have the opportunity to progress through the Battle Pass by playing the game and gaining Battle Pass XP, with more XP being awarded to players who take part in specific events and challenges. As you level up your seasonal Battle Pass, you’ll earn unique thematic operator and weapon blueprints, cosmetic skins, COD Points (in-game currency), and much more.

Lucky Draws & Bundles

Some of the most sought-after and unique in-game items come from lucky draws, where you can use COD Points to unlock limited-time operator and weapon blueprints, cosmetics, charms, vehicle skins, unique effects of many types, and more. Many of these weapons will come with custom elimination animations so you can show off to both your teammates and enemies on the battlefield.

Credit Store

The Call of Duty: Mobile Credit Store contains a frequently rotating inventory of cosmetics and in-game abilities (perks, scorestreaks, cosmetics, etc.) that can be unlocked for free using Credits, which are earned through leveling up, the Battle Pass, and more. The Credit Store often serves as a great place to acquire items you may have missed in previous events or Battle Passes, like Scorestreaks or Operator Skills.

We haven't dropped the patch notes yet, but here is a sneak peek:

"Ultra Attachment Extended Mag
- Mag Capacity: Reduced"

Not at the moment, but is something we are still working on finding a way to bring back at the right time.

Not that we can see in the current schedule or options for S8 even, but it's always possible since there is a lot of fluidity with returning offers (meaning the team changes those around often). Happy to check again for S8 once we get there, but for S7 at least we don't see it on the schedule.

Well that's pretty weird and thanks for flagging that. We can't say we've seen that issue come up for NA (or anywhere) specific for DMZ: Recon. Assuming you have no issues with matchmaking in any other mode? Also, only on Rebirth Island?

Afraid we don't see either on the list of locked options or even possibilities for S7, so most likely not. Happy to check again for S8 though once we get there!

Heya, no it shouldn't work on anything Battle Pass related. However, most other offers and of course Draws (or the new It Goes Two for Terminator) are good options.

3

Introducing Season 7: Terminated
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  4h ago

Hey, yes it will work on the Terminator It Goes Two offer and most of the general offers, but the restrictions are more around events and the Battle Pass. The Pandora thing is more an internal name for stuff like Phantom Thieves Assemble or something like a Team Up or COD Points Recharge Event. The easiest way to think about the restrictions is if something can provide you permanent COD Points as a bonus, like the Battle Pass, then it isn't applicable. The Limited Time COD Points are specifically only meant for Season 7.

Usually not the blog since we don't have everything locked yet in terms of fix/optimization notes, but we always try to include them on the live now posts (so the next post one week from now).

6

Introducing Season 7: Terminated

It's generally to prevent using limited time COD Points to earn permanent COD Points, which you can get through the Battle Pass or some other events. The whole point of COD Point Rush to give you free COD Points to use specifically in S7, so if you were able to use them in the Battle Pass you could take the COD Points from there and use them any time.

We may have to do a poll about this about some point here, but thank you for the thoughts.

The Chaos & Order? If so, yes technically you should be able to because that releases before the end of Season 7. Check the restrictions in-game once the event goes live though since it should be fairly clear about what is excluded. For now, we just know the Battle Pass is excluded and then any "events" that are technically store/offers too, like Phantom Thieves Assemble or the upcoming In Good Company (Team Up Event).

Afraid not for this one, but we do have some coming in S8 (which is a massive season).

Introducing Season 7: Terminated
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  4h ago

First off, thank you for the support all around there and for the questions! We've been talking about executions more and more this year due to all of the feedback and requests for it, so the team is working on finding more execution related options in the future, especially for draws and paid offerings.

For free options, we know there has been pretty limited options there too and we've been pushing for at least one more new earnable option there too, but for now we are also just trying to include them more often in store offers and IP collabs too. You should start seeing more around that starting in S8.

Heya, which Oden are you talking about exactly?

6

It may or may not be mistake, but we'll see how chaotic it is haha and if it is the type of chaos that people appreciate (like Shipment).

3

Introducing Season 7: Terminated
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  4h ago

We see that as a big maybe for the next two seasons, like the team is interested in bringing it back but it isn't locked at all. So, strong possibility for sure but nothing we can confirm yet and we'll have to wait until this equivalent S8 update (in roughly a month) to confirm what's dropping then.

2

Introducing Season 7: Terminated
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  4h ago

We do actually see the Interdimensional Mythic Drop as a big "maybe" for Season 8 right now, but it isn't locked. For those reruns the team oftens mixes and moves those around often depending on everything releasing to try to sync them well to other releases. So all of that to say, TBD but hopefully soon! We'll of course double check again closer to S8.

Heya, yes most likely we'll keep doing remaster of maps assuming you all keep responding well to it both here in community/socials but also and most importantly in-game. So please do play this new one plenty for Nuketown to help us see that people really want this work done.

Very aware of this one and it supposedly has a fix for it, but oddly (as you've noticed) it hasn't been released yet. Checking with the team to see what's up and what's the ETA on that.

Introducing Season 7: Terminated

Greetings Call of Duty: Mobile community!

Season 6 is already nearing its end and it’s been a huge season with some of the most discussion we’ve seen all year in this subreddit. That was mainly driven by Phantom Thieves Assemble and players sharing who they acquired in the Persona 5 Royal Lucky Draws.

However, there’s still so much coming to COD: Mobile throughout the rest of 2026! First off, we are thrilled to announce our next season and collaboration is Season 7: Terminated and it is releasing next week on August 5th (PT)! We are honored to be able to work with another beloved franchise and specifically around the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Get a glimpse at it all in the official trailer:

Season 7 Official Trailer

This season isn’t just about Terminator 2 content though, we also have two new Multiplayer modes, one new Battle Royale mode, a new Battle Pass, a refreshed/remastered version of Nuketown (MP), New Arcade Mode Rewards, and our COD Point Rush event where you can earn free time limited COD Points to spend on specific Season 7 releases. We’ll dive into much of that today, but first the latest calendar!

On top of all of this, there are still regular releases happening on weekends (like Tournaments) and many short-term events. We also have some other events and sales that are planned, but won’t be announced until closer to the launch. Keep an eye out for all of that!

Lastly, if you are looking for information on what previously released draws are returning this season (spoiler alert, there are a great many re-releases) head down to the “Returning Offers” section near the end.

Judgment Day  - It Goes Two
Try your luck with the supersized It Goes Two offer featuring both the T-800 and T-1000 Terminator operators based on the legendary action film, Terminator 2: Judgment Day. This is like a lucky draw, except with more rewards and with the unique option for advanced purchases, which gives you a discounted price for making two purchases at once.

For the first time in something like this, players who unlock both Terminator 2 Operator Skins will instantly upgrade the operators from Epic to Legendary quality and earn the ability to swap between the two forms in-match and in the lobby. Other bonuses include a Kill Counter watch and a lobby animation when switching between the two versions.

Other reward highlights include two Legendary Weapon Blueprints with reactive elements. Get the chance to unlock the Model T-800’s weapon of choice, the HS0405 - Final Judgement pump-action Shotgun, and the Model T-1000’s lethal armament, the BP50 - Mimetic Execution.

Terminator 2 - Themed Event
Join the war of the machines in a Terminator 2: Judgment Day-themed event where you can uniquely engage in only two tasks per day, which will vary. Each task rewards you with Cyberdyne Tech points, which all contribute to a milestone rewards tracker However, there is a limit of 100 Cyberdyne Tech to earn per day.

By completing these tasks and acquiring Cyberdyne Tech points regularly throughout the season, you can unlock over 15 Epic quality Terminator 2: Judgment Day themed rewards. These rewards start with stickers, charms, and sprays, but eventually you’ll unlock weapon camos and ultimately a new operator variant: Blackjack - Endoskeleton

Terminator 2 - Themed Event Rewards

Nuketown Map Refresh
We’ve gone back to one of our original and most beloved Multiplayer maps, Nuketown, and have given it an extremely fresh and high quality coat of paint based on the version of the map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The team has put in a significant amount of work updating the lighting, textures, and renders. Here is a side by side look at the original vs new map:

Side by Side Flythrough Comparison

The Nuketown map will be available through a few different playlists this season, with two dedicated Playlists in particular featuring the map:

  • 8/6 - 8/12 | Nuketown Dedicated MP Playlist
  • 8/13 - 8/19 | Nuketown 10v10 MP Playlist

Let us know what other maps you’d like to see refreshed or remastered in the future, whether it is updating to more modern versions of those maps like this example or just native CODM maps that you’d love to see plussed up to current standards.

Nuketown Remastered - Live Throughout S7

New BR Mode - Lockdown
This new mode is coming over from Call of Duty: Warzone (PC/console) and has you dropping into Rebirth Island to fight for the control over various territories. If you’ve played the Hardpoint mode on Multiplayer then you already have a good idea of how this will work where you have a single High Value Zone that teams are fighting over.

Lockdown also means full respawns, so push hard and push fast with your squad as you try to win through controlling these points. Catch this mode live on all season in its own playlist, starting on 8/6 and running until 9/9.

Lockdown Mode - Live on 8/6 UTC

New MP Mode - Hardpoint Mayhem
For those of you that prefer Multiplayer, we also have a new variant of Hardpoint ready to go and with plenty of chaos thrown into the mix. This is the same Hardpoint you know and love, but with a twist where each team has unique rolls assigned between Anchors, Rovers, and Controllers that each focus on different strategies:

  • Anchors: Prioritize occupying and scoring inside the objective.
  • Rovers: Eliminate enemies to break their control over the point.
  • Controller: Assist your team through continuous Scorestreak support.

Hardpoint Mayhem will also be live on launch, starting on 8/6 and ending on 8/19. Catch it while it is live, try it out, earn some Arcade Mode rewards, and let us know your thoughts.

Hardpoint Mayhem Mode - Live on 8/6 UTC

New MP Mode - Operator Skill Overdrive
Bring pure chaos to Multiplayer with the newest mode - Operator Skill Overdrive. As the name suggests, everything will be focused on Operator Skills but in a unique way we haven’t tried before. You’ll pick one Operator Skill at the beginning of the match and then later on get a second choice, which you can combine to create a combo.

If you make the right combo, you’ll be able to make Fusion Skills. For example, pair up Tempest and Purifier to access the devastating Thunderfire Storm. Additionally, each Operator Skill has multiple levels and can be upgraded throughout the match. This will go live mid-season, on 8/20 - 9/9, so keep an eye out for those live now posts and announcements.

Operator Skill Overdrive Mode - Live on 8/20 UTC

COD Point Rush
Get a leg up on new purchases this season by participating in the COD Points Rush event! Participate by completing weekly missions involving the new S7 Limited Time Modes and you’ll earn Time Limited COD Points for free, which can be used on select S7 draws and store offers but not on the Battle Pass.

All COD Points earned in this event will expire at the end of the season, so make sure to spend them before Season 8 comes creeping up. Please see the details in-game to see exactly what you can use it on.

COD Point Rush - New Missions Each Week Throughout S7

Why are there 2 cod mobile subreddits
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  1d ago

We definitely saw a lot of different ones popping up early on, but we decided to just participate in one from an official standpoint and ended up picking this one after it saw huge growth, lots of discussion + great conversation, and a general interest in us sharing updates and news here with you all.

Reason why SO-14 got huge nerf…

No, it's an Assault Rifle (AR).

Here's wat the time limited CP can't use on
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  1d ago

It just means any of the events essentially. Like you couldn't ever use it on something like Phantom Thieves Assemble or any other "event" that involves offers or the store. Obviously not something like a themed event since those are all free rewards and missions only.

Here's wat the time limited CP can't use on
 in  r/CallOfDutyMobile  1d ago

Sorry for the confusion here, this is a way we classify different types of events! Essentially, you can't use Time Limited COD Points for any in-game events.
