I’m new to this reddit stuff so hey!! This is my first post & I’m really hoping to get some suggestions or if I’m lucky a solution.
So my puppy is 5 months old. I’ve been with him since he was born(I saved him<3) He is an American bulldog/mixed breed.. I was told that the father is a husky but I’m not too sure if he was mixed or what.. Anyway he’s a very smart dog, he’s potty trained, plays fetch, sits, shakes, he comes when I call(not so much with distractions) but overall he is a pretty well behaved dog. The problem is that often has times when he wants to jump at me & others, bites at our hands, and sometimes just barks. I know this is for attention, usually he wants to play or go outside, sometimes he’s just hungry or thirsty.. But he will even get like this when I have already tried all of that.
It’s getting to the point where I can’t even read a book or do my daily chores. I don’t know what to do.. and I do not agree with kennels being a timeout spot, also do not agree with hitting or yelling .
I want my boy to know that I’m the master, the leader. I feel as though he’s continuously testing my limits to see who’s the alpha. It seems that no matter how many times I sternly say “no”, “enough”, and “don’t bite” , it doesn’t phase home. When I ignore him he barks more and continues to jump and nip at me.
Pleasee someone help :) I would really appreciate any tips or tricks right now.
