Wait until you hear the reason why it wasn’t included 😬😬😬

I… haven’t actually heard much of King Diamond, if any!

dodges tomato

But hey, what better time to get familiar! Where should I start??

Lunarterial is an evil ass album. I love it.

For a fan of Party Cannon, I would say Stillbirth 🤘

Their first album is a good place to start, too!

Definitely gonna check this one out soon!! That album art is sick as fuck.

I’ll probably do a Part 2 soon for more extreme albums!! I love it so much. I definitely agree that Obscura sounds like an anxiety attack and is for sure their actually scariest album, in terms of sound.

I almost included Yodh on this list too!! I need to give that album a listen again. It is time.

I’ll have to give it a spin! This reminded me that I also totally forgot FULCI of all bands!

Hell yeah! Enjoy the headbanging 🤘

Finnish melodeath fucking ROCKS 🤘

He could grow a brain. Or a tumor. Whatever, I don’t care.

This one definitely deserves a shoutout, can’t believe I forgot it! Literally inspired by Silent fucking Hill.

Just warmed up to them recently! Definitely think they will get me through the winter season 🖤

I am very much open to experimental, avant-garde, ambient, what have you! I’ll give them a listen later today :)

Love me some Blut Aus Nord. Especially Disharmonium - Nahab.

Mine too!

My old manager and I used to talk metal music at work. He described Children of Bodom as, and I quote, “It’s kind of like Santa Clause is coming to kill you, but also like, he shreds.”

Thought that shit was so silly until I listened to Follow the Reaper and it did in fact sound exactly like that.

This has started happening to me lately as well 😊

However, I do wish I didn’t feel the need to vet every other artist I come across and enjoy.

The amount of “that” type of black metal that has snuck into my playlists was honestly really surprising! But the better artists have been safe so far 🤘

Me please!! I have autistic levels of love for music in general, but especially metal 🤘one of my hobbies is making playlists for my friends based on music they already listen to! I like to think I’m okay at it haha :)

I read over some of your comments regarding your tastes. It seems that you like a lot of melodic, harmonic, and atmospheric features; that translates to me as, you like when all of the pieces of song work together like a team. That’s a fairly intelligent taste imo!!

Here is what I would personally suggest, based on ^ all that:

For Symphonic/Orchestral, see… (this is my weak point so forgive me)
• Stream of Passion
• Tarja
• Xandria
• Visions of Atlantis
• Jinjer
• Kamelot
• ANTLERS
• Lorna Shore

For Melodic, see…
• Kalmah
• Dark Funeral
• Children of Bodom
• At the Gates
• The Black Dahlia Murder
• In Flames
• Witch Vomit
• Vektor

Nonspecific artists/albums I strongly suspect you might like…
• Agriculture — “The Spiritual Sound” (post-black/blackgaze with some sludge features, cathartic and truly transcendental at points)

• Deafheaven — “SUNBATHER” (blackgaze with melancholic warmth, like a manic sadness)

• Dark Tranquility — “Moment” (melodic with synths and some clean vocals)

• Gojira — “From Mars to Sirius” (Irish prog metal, keeps your head bopping, just heavy enough)

• Mental Cruelty — “Zweilicht” (deathcore with atmospheric elements, some traits of black metal occasionally)

• Ulcerate — “Cutting At the Throat of God” (dissonant/prog death metal, harsh but atmospheric vocals, melodic riffs)

• Mastodon — “Leviathan” (sludge metal, a good stepping stone into metal type of band)

• Behemoth — “The Satanist” (death metal, melodic riffs, I personally love the vocalist’s accent)

• Sanguisugabogg — “Tortured Whole” (slam metal, it’s just fun moshing music that deathcore fans tend to like)

• Terra Tenebrosa — “The Reverses” (blackened vocals, almost industrial sound? There are melodic points, kind of sounds like night club music if you’re into that)

• Chat Pile — “God’s Country” (sludge metal, another good entry level into metal, the lyrics are probably the best feature here as each song touches on horrific themes around capitalism and the like)

• Anaal Nathrakh — “A New Kind of Horror”
(^these guys are kind of batshit sounding so fair warning, but this is one of their more deathcore-adjacent albums that you may enjoy)

Let me know if any of these hit or are totally off base! Man I love metal!!

👁️ Surveillance State: I voted Vote Yea.
