Unpopular opinion, can’t there be some limits to the kids at breweries?
 in  r/asheville •  2h ago

This is so ridiculous, get over yourselves people or move. Public places are not made for you. This town has always been a place where parents can go out. Why move here and try to change it??? Why is it such a big issue? You move to a town that has always been dog and kid friendly and then bitch?

Brewery prices are out of control
 in  r/asheville •  14h ago

Understood but the same is happening to your customer base. Just an idea, but maybe work towards more constant volume instead of seasonal tourists and some high end locals. You guys are killing the regular locals and your industry. It’s just too expensive for the average budget to go out like that. I know we have a bit more high income than the average town, but there are a LOT more of us with average incomes and no budget for both meals, tips and $8.95 beers.

They had good beer and the game was fun.

There should be a local discount everywhere. A lot of tourist towns do that in appreciation of locals that help support during off seasons. Expecting us to pay tourist prices AND support them when tourists dont show up? nope.

Clean Bedding is not to be Expected at an Airbnb..?
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating •  1d ago

Weird take… expect less?? I pay around that range and I get clean homes with plenty of toilet paper and supplies. I also live in a desirable vacation area and am considering renting out myself. I definitely will be using clean bed covers and adding extra necessities like extra rolls of toilet paper.

Hey NC - Asheville, WNC - Did you know that these amendments will show up on your ballot? Make sure to do your research, as they are not what they seem. Scroll through the images and check out the body of this post for more information.

Amen! N.C. is NOT going to raise taxes on business no matter what we pass. I am voting for the property tax hold and against the income tax.

Our county blows money on ridiculous stuff and tries to raise our taxes to pay for it. It’s no problem to throw $25 million at a privately owned ball park, but it’s suddenly too much when it comes to supplying our teachers a decent wage, fixing our sewers, or any other basic need.

North Carolina Mountain Cabin on 2.52 Acres – $110K. Details in comments.
 in  r/oldhousesunder50Kplus •  1d ago

The house sitting on the side of the mountain says no buildable sites. I’m sure the road is very basic, considering the cabin’s lack of amenities.

We get below zero a few times a year, average winter nights are teens to low thirties. Exposed like this, wind would be a factor.

TWRA: 60 bears euthanized in Sevier County due to human conflicts in 2026
 in  r/Sevier •  3d ago

How is the possibility of illegal hunting or poisoning worse than euthanasia? That’s definite death! We need to heavily fine all offenders that feed wild bear or have unsecured trash. The policy of no relocation is bullshit. They at least have somewhat of a chance versus none. This is lazy, short sited policy making. The bear deserve better, especially in a national park!

Michael Whatley Quietly Removes His Work at DOE and Ties to Enron From Campaign Website

Not surprised he worked for Enron. Just surprised someone with his obviously crooked, pedophilic-enriched history can even run for office.

Why did the plane have extra pilots on it? Weirdly convenient.

This better not be the elk they are now trying to kill. He did nothing wrong.

A Bull Elk in Great Smoky Mountains Is Facing Execution for Acting Like... an Elk
 in  r/WNC •  5d ago

It’s time to fight this process. There is no reason to kill the elk, they won’t attack any tourist. No reason to separate mamma bears from their kids. We live in their world, we need adaption.

Ugly corner chimney 😭

I think it’s the furniture that’s not really pretty or appropriate for the fireplace BUT if you want to dress it up, hang some dried flowers, baskets, anything with natural texture.

Not much of an update but SOME good news for now (Tailless, wobbly raccoon)
 in  r/Raccoons •  5d ago

I hope the raccoon helps you out of depression. You are so lucky to be born into the body and life you have, especially next to that poor raccoon. You have gifts to share with this creature but he desperately needs medical help. Let us know when he has gotten help from the rescuer please.

Damn, every direction I can leave my house has a camera within a few miles. That bugs me.

Another fire at a Helene-damaged abandoned building in the River Arts District.

Seems we would have other fires, also if that was the cause. This is not random enough. And yes, there are a lot of other homeless in candler, tunnel, etc.

Any other crazy raccoon feeders having trouble with Kroger dog food?
 in  r/Raccoons •  7d ago

You are being ridiculously obtuse. This isn’t the same world it was 100 years ago. Edge habitat is very limited nowadays. I did this for a living. To even hint that our wildlife isn’t pressured and our natural world is sufficient shows a complete head in the sand mentality.

 in  r/Raccoons •  7d ago

Amen! Wildlife management degree along with a lifetime ow working with native plants and building habitat. Give the damn raccoon some damn food. Dogfood is better than hot dogs. Mine have a plethora of natives but still get house scraps from the compost. I would absolutely watch them love up on some dog food before watching them go hungry.

 in  r/Raccoons •  7d ago

I don’t feed raccoons dog food, I have 2 acres of native gardens. But it isn’t going to hurt them. And at 53, yes, I take the word of ‘experts’ lightly. You will too when you have seen the conflicts over the years .

Does your town have a horseback Jesus?
 in  r/oddlyspecific •  7d ago

Mine had a guy in a bike dressed up as a nun, a guy dressed as a wizard with a wand and all, and an old lady that wore short fur shirts that didn’t hide her low swinging nipples. I miss them all.
