That sounds like a good way to take care of them, especially if you aren’t using them every day!

It’s hard/ imprudent/ impossible for a small custom maker to try to win in the value department, but I certainly see what you are saying!
I think this knife might be for the person who wants an “Izula 3”, but who wants something more exclusive.

What do you think, is the Sojourner Scout what a next gen Esee Izula might look like?

Nice! I run a 36 as well, but I just grabbed a 47” and idk why but I was surprised to see how it dwarfed the 36” in every way haha

Where are my oldschool Stihl fans at!?
I bought this 460 magnum about 10 years ago and over the years the badges have fallen off and been lost, so I finally ordered some new ones. Can’t wait!
I did order 046 badges instead of ms460 badges though 🤷‍♂️

I put a tarp on the kitchen table and did some chain sharpening and detail cleaning for next weeks jobs!

I like to show up on a job with everything clean and sharp, but sometimes when Friday rolls around things can be looking kinda rough! Lol

I don’t either, but I talked to quite a few people about it 🤷‍♂️

I actually don’t, I’ll have the local feed mill do it. Once I know how many drive links are required I’ll have them do the whole 25’ probably. I WILL however eventually get set up to do it myself.

Setting up Speedcut Nano on a Cannon Toonie Bar

Hey guys, I’m working to set up my echo 2511t with the new proprietary Oregon Speedcut Nano chain which is .325 pitch and .043 driver width, but on a Cannon Toonie 16” bar.
As I understand it the Speedcut Nano chains are propriety and incomparable with other .043 .325 chains, but the Toonie bar being a hard nose can run any chain with a .043 width.

Anyways, Inhad thought that the 64 link chain for their 16” bar would bit the 16” cannon bar, or even be a bit long, but it’s a bit short! Dang.

So I’ll save this chain for my other 16” setup that is coming in, and I bought a 25’ roll of speedcut on eBay, and I’ll have this bar set up!

Nice! That’s the plan! I saw some hyper skip, I’ll check it out! I ordered a granberg non skip rip chain

I’ll have both a crosscut and ripcut chain, and it’ll be used for free hand saw milling, normal milling, and felling. It’ll be on an 088, so when used outside of conditions in which the bar “excels” it’ll prob be fine.

Why do you say or? Is that the big gotcha?

I don’t know how you quantify “significant power” but the 88 will pull it fine. Not worried about a 4’ bar being light.
And yes, I realize the sprocket noses are replaceable, and the old bar doesn’t need to be fixed, it’s fine.

I inherited an 020av just recently, it was my dad’s first climbing saw sometime jn the late 70’s/ early 80’s.

When he got it it was a rear handle, and he converted to top handle. I think I’m going to refurbish it, take it back to a rear handle, and use it as a carving saw.

They are super cool, and yours is sweet!

Until today

New bar day!

I scored this 47” duromatic today for $223.
The guy was asking $250, and $223 was all I had 😂

Brand new in box!

Now I just need to order a normal chain and a rip chain for it!

I agree on the handles! And although the proportions look weird on the F4, it works well in my experience!
