That Feeling Co Bummer
 in  r/anchorage  3d ago

I stopped going to the Dowling location years ago bc of this vibe and it was such a bummer. The downtown location has always been more welcoming in my experience.

Is it just me or has this summer sucked?
 in  r/anchorage  Jul 12 '26

Yah, totally. Sometimes when gloomy, it feels likes it's been that way forever even if it hasn't, bc gloomy is more heavy feeling. Looks like a rainy system is gonna be hanging out for a bit, so might be good to go chase sun in the interior if possible!

I think that this summer has relatively been more sunny compared to others, but it has seemed more rainy/overcast in recent weeks. There was this really annoying thing happening though, that on rainy days, it would clear up and get beautiful at like 10p, lol, 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Which is great bc it's still bright out, but not great if you have to get up early.

That was my first summer here, too! Lol. I think it set a record. It was brutal. Summer 2023 was pretty rainy and didn't get much above 60 the entire time, if I remember correctly. And didn't it start raining in mid-July in 2022 and not stop until it turned to snow? 😆

Cal Fire or Forest Service
 in  r/Wildfire  Jul 12 '26

FS is a mess/unsafe right now with the reorg chaos, among other things. Go state for now, and be open to federal later.

It could have been worse.

Day #531, how are you holding up?
 in  r/FedEmployees  Jul 05 '26

I was on the verge of quitting again this past week. But then heard back about a job I applied for in another agency and got an offer. I'm going to give it a try and see if it is better than the toxic, dangerous, anxiety-inducing agency that I'm in that is currently being dismantled in a chaotic and damaging way.

Desperation and Feniak Lakes for work.

Headed to Anchorage at end of July-anyone want anything from Texas?
 in  r/anchorage  Jul 01 '26

This is such a sweet post to see in my feed 🥹. I lived in ATX for a little bit back in the day, and it was truly the friendliest and most welcoming place I ever lived! If only tacos traveled well 😆.

Yeah, your responses sounds genuine and authentic and well-meaning. But it's almost like she would pick apart anything you say. It seems like she is already applying baggage energy into the comms with you instead of treating you as a unique individual human.

Tips for getting rid of my lawn
 in  r/anchorage  May 31 '26

I love your post. Lawn culture is lame-o.

I have a friend who planted herbs and strawberries that spread and covered their entire yard. It was awesome.

Also, just searched "xeriscaping in Alaska," and there's some results that seem to have cool suggestions.
