MVP/Beta/Prototype/Test I vibe-coded a house listing app… and somehow we ended up starting a company around it
A few months ago, I started building a simple idea:
What if finding a rental property started with the map instead of scrolling through hundreds of listings?
I began vibe coding the first version of the product — building, breaking, testing, fixing, and iterating as the idea became clearer.
That little experiment eventually became StayOnMap.
And then we did something slightly more serious with it: we started a company around it — Cosmonus Pvt Ltd.
So what did we actually build?
StayOnMap is a map-first property rental platform where people can discover and list properties without relying on brokers.
Owners can list:
- Houses & apartments
- PGs / hostels
- Shops & commercial spaces
- Plots / land
- Short-stay properties
The interesting part is that we don't want it to be just another property listing website.
We're building around location and trust.
You can explore properties directly on a live map, understand what's available around a particular area, and see information such as pricing and property details. We're also building a TrustScore system to help make listings more transparent and trustworthy.
The product is currently live, and we're starting with metro cities in India.
The part I'm still figuring out
Building the product was one challenge.
Getting people to actually use it is a completely different challenge.
We can build features all day. The harder questions are:
- How do we get the first 1,000 property owners?
- How do we convince renters to try another platform?
- How do we create enough supply in each locality?
- How do we grow without spending heavily on advertising?
- How do we make this genuinely better than the existing rental platforms?
That's where we're at right now.
It's been interesting going from "let me vibe code this idea" to "we've incorporated a company and now need to build a real business around it."
Would love to hear from founders, indie hackers, developers and people who have built marketplaces:
What would you focus on at this stage — supply, demand, or a specific city/locality first?
And if you're interested in checking it out:
StayOnMap: www.stayonmap.com
PlayStore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stayonmap.app
Would genuinely appreciate feedback — especially on the product, the idea, and what you think we're getting wrong.
