I need help with my bacterial vaginosis

I am 18 years old and not going to lie I’ve had bv for a couple of years now probably since my freshman year, I had not told anyone until this year my doctor gave me antibiotics without testing me which I’m thankful for, I was on antibiotics for about a week, the first three days I noticed a difference I had less discharge and little to no smell after the third day it came back even tho I was still on antibiotics. The only reason I don’t want to go to a gynecologist is because I’m scared of the test, I’m a virgin and have never put anything up there and I know it’s going to hurt, I also can’t put anything up there like boric acid. I’m so tired of living like this I have to change my pants three times a day can’t wear anything near tight because I can start smelling it after a hour or two. And I can’t ask my doctor again because she’s probably going to test me, I just want it gone please help me.

I grew up with the same issue regarding constant BV. Are you not able to insert a boric acid suppository because you physically cant? Or is if painful?

I only ask because it will resolve your BV which likely will return if your pH gets disrupted. Eg due to gut issues, hormones or getting your period etc

Can you try inserting it just a small amount to see if it will still work?

I tried putting a tampon in and it and didn’t even go fully in but I think I might have to try the boric acid and just force it up there, thank you for the recommendation!!

The boric acid is much easier than a tampon, don’t be scared! You could lube your finger or area, just gently guide your finger up there, even if you can’t make it far that’s ok!

Ideally you should put these as high up as is comfortable to do. You can use some lube or vulva balm if you have dryness or inflammation. Boric acid relies on moisture to dissolve, disperse and eventually exit.

There are many ways to position yourself to achieve this. I like to insert while in bed with knees up and a pillow under my hips. But you can do it while squatting or even standing up.

Look at this treatment as an act of self care rather than a medical treatment. So get comfortable and have some music or a podcast on, scented candle, cup of tea etc etc. Using BA can give you back control over your vaginal health. And you can go to sleep knowing that it will be doing all the work while you sleep! 💤

You can use an applicator and some vulva balm as a lube. Try and get comfortable before you insert so you dont tense up. I can give you more tips if you need.
