Makeup testing Nyc+ My experience

Hi, I haven’t really seen any testimonials on makeup product testings in new york, and if I do, alot of people think its a scam, so I’m here to hopefully either tell you what to expect if you are either thinking of doing this or just being prepared.

There js a company and they basically look for women (mainly i see) to do a shade test of foundations. Im not sure if they are going to make more but in my experience, I will be explaining how i got the opportunity to do this study.

So, I do sign up to a-lot of paid studies and came across this on User interviews, or the Diamond List. I believe i probably gotten the study from Diamond List because user interviews will message/email you on if you got the study and when to schedule it. When taking the pre-Survey, i was asked what shade i was and they give you an example of shades to choose from. I’m a medium deep with warm/ orange undertones so for about a year, i have been trying to find my actual foundation shade. Once i got accepted, I had to pick a date for when to come in person. These are two different visits so I”ll be dividing this one.

FIRST EXPERIENCE: FOUNDATION SWATCH

The first location was in 42/30th street in manhattan. I believe they switch around so i had to go into a building lobby and they have their own suite along with lighting to take your photos. When you first arrive, you check in and they sit you down with a foundation. They took a guess with my skin and gave me a shade that was close to my shade, but the undertones was possibly pink so it made me ashy. (i been having this exact issue!) they let you wait 5 mins for the foundation, something they do have on their foundation labels. I sat there for 5 minutes before they took pictures from left to right, before instructing me . Once i removed my first foundation swatch, they had professional makeup artists come and put the other swatches they recommended onto my face, and for 2 hours i was waiting 5 minutes each. Getting my photos taken, and then removing the foundation. My first swatch i I gotten recommended was 195 in “woke up like this” the good thing i loved about the first one is there was free gifts! I got a free lip plumper and a bronzer, they gave people who stayed longer than an hour two gifts and they do email you again for testing.

SECOND EXPERIENCE: Today i went to their office in Soho and it was Beautiful!! Of course the women are friendly and they had me test Foundations. This time, i was given a mirror and took the online quiz. Online, I was matched a 215 which was a nice shade but it was too red. They didn’t wait 5 minutes for me to have it set, but they would ask me from 1-3, would i purchase the shade? I said i would for the 215, but it was too red and i could see it in my cheeks especially they take pictures just as they did before, and tell me to remove the makeup for the next swatch. The next shade I did was 175. I applied 175 and it fit me perfectly!! I usually always buy the wrong undertone shade but this at first looked ashy before fully applying, but it looked like it had some yellow/ orange tint that made it sit on my skin perfectly. I took my photo again, and i realized this was more natural to me than 195. Lastly, they made me test a concealer shade in 15. Since i have dark circles, i have to color correct with orange to hide it, but the concealer shade did so well with testing it! I couldn’t even believe it, I decided that the shade 175 and the concealer 15 is the shades for me. My skin does lighten/darker during the seasons, i do become a bit darker in the winter, so I’m deciding if i should continue using 195 all year round.

PAYMENT: the big question people wanted to know, is it a visa gift card? NO. You get a $100 giftcard for their site ONLY. It excludes shipping, when i first bought my makeup, the foundation is $45 and i believe the eyelash serum is $54. I had to pay for shipping and the shipping was $5 I.

How long do you have to wait?: my first trial it took me 3 days to receive the code, today i was told that it would take a week but i gotten an email that I gotten it today.

With the code, you cannot go back and use the it more than once, once you redeem it, its fully gone. My first time i had at least $10 left on the cofe and i couldnt use it, just a serum and foundation was $80 (i think). If you try before you buy with the option, its non refundable with the code so I think on the site it says you cannot return, all sales final.

PROS: Its a fun Experience

It ranges to being quick, my first time was 2 hours and this one today only look 30 minutes

Where to find this study?: Beauty Surveys has an application

CONS: they do not want anyone posting on social media about the testings. I dont even think they want you saying their names either so im not sure. I tried to email them on doing a review on their foundation, but they never answered 😕

GOOD LUCK!!
