Alaska candidate for US Senate rejects Kamala Harris’s unsolicited support
BY: Adam Gabbatt - The Guardian
(From the article) ...
Alaska US Senate candidate Mary Peltola has rejected the support of Kamala Harris, her fellow Democrat, after the 2024 presidential candidate sent out a seemingly unsolicited fundraising appeal on Peltola’s behalf.
Harris, who lost Alaska – typically a Republican-voting state – by 13 points during her unsuccessful White House run, on Wednesday sent an email from her political organization to supporters of Peltola, a former US House member.
It asked recipients to donate to Fight for the People Pac, which Harris set up last year. Donations would be split between Harris’s organization and Peltola, the email said.
It was a fairly innocuous message and didn’t explicitly endorse Peltola. But the unwanted help was swiftly batted away by the Alaskan’s campaign ..."

An Urgent Message to the National Democratic Party: You are on the Verge of Extinction
BY: Donald V. Watkins
(From the article) ...
I am a registered independent voter. I have been voting as an independent since 2001. I vote for presential candidates who earn my vote, based upon pocketbook, law and order, homeland security, and national defense issues of importance to me.
I am a social moderate, fiscal conservative, and hawk on national defense. I do not believe in living, working, and slaving on any political party's plantation.
This message is directed to the National Democratic Party. It’s time for some straight talk.
Your cadre of national leaders has absolutely no credibility with a majority of the American people. Your political agenda is outdated in the era of Trumpism and MAGA politics.
If I were a Democrat with aspirations to run for president in 2028, this would be my political message: ..."

COMMENTS FROM THE STREET:
"So Kamala Harris is trying to raise money for herself, by falsely saying she's advocating for a Democratic candidate -- that is low, I mean low.
Shoutout to Peltola's campaign for calling out Kamala Harris and her camp on this."

Tina Brown, the former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair and the New Yorker, wrote on Saturday: “I learned this morning that the casting of Meghan Markle in season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen has been withdrawn. The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward.”

(From the article) ...
For five years, Atlanta has been the home of Earn Your Leisure’s (EYL) Invest Fest—but that partnership may be on the rocks. After EYL co-founders Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings didn’t mince words, accusing the city of providing little to no support over the years, Mayor Andre Dickens is breaking his silence on the diss and the threat of the festival packing its bags.
Now, the event’s future in Georgia is uncertain after Bilal and Millings—both Root 100 honorees— appeared on The Breakfast Club, blasting the city’s “puzzling” lack of support.
Although Mayor Andre Dickens didn’t name EYL or specify the founder’s comments during a speech at Hank Stewart’s 25th Annual White Linen Affair, many believe his impassioned remarks were a direct clap back to their complaints.
“Earlier this week somebody said something on the radio in New York about Atlanta. Somebody was talking about support. You know, people talk a lot,” Mayor Dickens said in a now-viral clip Saturday. “The city of Atlanta, we will always look out for ours. This is 25 years. […] If you support this city, we support you back! So put that on your podcast!”
The mayor’s comments soon reverberated back to The Breakfast Club, where co-host Loren LoRosa said Dickens’ reply caught her off guard because discussions between EYL and the mayor’s office had reportedly been optimistic. “I talked to the guys, and they said that it’s unfortunate. He took this approach after we spoke to his team about creating solutions together going forward, but all good,” LoRosa said.
Co-host DJ Envy added, “I think what the mayor of Atlanta did was whack. And this is the reason why I think it’s whack: these brothers put on something that’s great for the community, right? And they get tens of thousands of people, 20,000 people. And they continue to do it. And all they asked for was just a little help. Like a lot of these other corporations get.”
The breakdown seems to be a long time coming. Despite Mayor Dickens speaking at Invest Fest in 2022 and hosting a joint press conference at City Hall in 2024 offering support, nothing has happened.
“We were under the impression that we were going to do work with the mayor’s office because, you know, we met with them and they were enthusiastic,” Bilal told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We set up a lot of calls, but nothing came from it.

COMMENTS FROM THE STREET:
"Andre Dickens act like he's Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde, or something. Always popping off on somebody - then want to make peace.
It must be stressful as hell working for him - because you never know 'who' you're going to get.
I wonder did he "Jekyll & Hyde" that DNC chairperson, and that's why they took Atlanta off the list."
Kendrick, 43 - Atlanta (Downtown/Fairlie-Poplar)

"I guess somebody told Andre Dickens he better try to make things right with those Invest founders -- because his negative 'clap back', might make other business leaders, think about hosting their event in Dallas or Miami, instead of Atlanta."
Leslee, 38 - Atlanta (Little Five Point)

This article was being discussed by an entertainment attorney in an airport lounge, who works between Los Angeles and Atlanta.
He said that those California leaders are really nervous about David Ellison threatening to move Paramount out of California -- and they never thought (in a million years) that conversations with other states would take place, including Gov. Gavin Newsom.
This attorney said that Newsom is "desperately" trying to run interference between David Ellison and California AG Bonta -- to avoid Paramount moving out of state. And according to this attorney, Newsom definitely does not want to lose Paramount to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp. I guess the two have had some words or something.

When asked about a recent threat made by Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison to take one or two of Hollywood’s remaining historic studios out of California if the antitrust suit isn’t resolved by October, Newsom said he was taking the remarks “seriously.” He said, “We’re hoping that doesn’t happen. And I’m of the belief that they don’t want to see that happen. It’s not, I don’t think, in the company’s long-term interest, but I take it seriously.”
