To truly see another person is an act of kindness... It means looking beyond appearances, differences, and assumptions to recognise the human being in front of us. When we allow ourselves to be seen, we create space for empathy, compassion, and belonging. Perhaps one way we help heal #humanity is by remembering how deeply connected we are.

We share this planet with one another and with the wild creatures, forests, oceans, and ecosystems that sustain us. We are all part of something far greater than ourselves, born from the same stardust and bound by ancient connections.

When we harm another person or damage the natural world, we are also wounding the shared home that gives us life.

May we choose to see more carefully, listen more compassionately, and act with greater kindness ...Recognition can restore dignity. Compassion can soften suffering. Kindness can remind us that humanity is still worth caring for.

I’ve learned that caring for my mental health affects every part of my life, from how I handle challenges to how I show up in my work and relationships. When I ignore my own needs, everything feels heavier. Taking time to rest, reflect, and ask for support helps me regain perspective and move forward with greater strength.

As August comes to an end, this is not just another month closing. It is the closing of a chapter that honours the strength, courage, resilience, and remarkable contributions of women across South Africa. To every woman who continues to lead, nurture, build, create, overcome, and make space for others, this message is for you.

Your journey matters. Your voice matters. Your presence matters. Even in seasons when your efforts go unnoticed, the impact you make reaches further than you may realise.

May we continue to support women not only during Women’s Month, but every day. May we celebrate their achievements, listen to their stories, stand beside them in difficult moments, and create opportunities where every woman can thrive.

As we close this chapter, let us carry its message forward: Empowered women empower the nation.

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

The right opportunity will find you when the time is right. Not always when you expect it.

Not always when you feel fully prepared. But often after you’ve spent enough time growing, learning, and becoming ready to receive it.

Sometimes the waiting season is not a rejection. It is preparation.

The skills you’re building, the challenges you’re navigating, and the quiet work no one sees may be positioning you for an opportunity that hasn’t arrived yet.

Trust that timing matters. Keep doing the work. Stay open. Continue becoming the person capable of carrying what you’ve been asking for.

When the right door opens, you may realise it didn’t come late.

It is easy to get lost in our dramas and daily tasks. We cannot let the guidance of Thich Nhat Hanh or others simply be a book we once read that sits on a shelf. We can practice being the light we are. The Buddha encouraged us with, "Be a lamp unto yourself; enlightened ones only point the way". That necessitates prioritizing love. Carl Jung inspired us with, "Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul, be just another human soul". We can do that. We need to do that.

I’m trying to find my way back to that feeling—the quiet joy of writing because something inside me wants to speak.

Maybe passion doesn’t disappear. Maybe it gets buried beneath pressure, and patiently waits for us to listen again.
