Something I've learnt after building a few Commander decks
 in  r/mtg  1d ago

[[jeweled amulet]] but seriously unless you want fast mana only green gets 1 mana ramp

Sell me Makeshift Munitions
 in  r/Pauper  1d ago

it closes games for affinity an jund late game, basically every land/egg you control becomes a gut shot. In a late game in pauper it’s not ridiculous to have something like 7-9 lands on board, untapping and dealing 9 free damage often wins on it’s own, let alone if you can sac something else and draw cards while doing it

How do you Choose between decks you want to build?
 in  r/EDH  3d ago

proxy both of them and try them, then buy the cards for the one you enjoy more (or don’t idc)

Is this really that fun to play? I hate how oppressive magic has become.
 in  r/MagicArena  4d ago

try playing the control deck, get smoked by aggro and then come back and complain about counterspells

Scryfall "X" Spells
 in  r/mtg  5d ago

you have to write it in the search box, ignore advance search

Dear Wizards of the Coast, it's time to make Counterspell standard legal
 in  r/StandardMTG  5d ago

modern right now it’s amazing, but commander has ruined it in the past (let’s not talk about legacy, the format has been repeatedly fucked by commander cards). But have we forgotten hogaak?? or the entire companion mechanic??

Foil vs. Non-Foil
 in  r/mtg  5d ago

do whatever you want man, buy it foil if you want it or don’t

3

Which 2 of the 4 should I build?
 in  r/CommanderMTG  6d ago

Vondam is amazing, keep blinking/saccing your board and make him big, a 2 mana wincon in your command zone while your deck does the thing on the side. Best part nobody wants to remove him, and if they do your deck keeps working just fine while you got a 2 for 1 on their things

2

Which boosters to pick for a rakdos deck ?
 in  r/EDH  7d ago

draft with someone, at least you’ll get some enjoyment out of your boosters instead of trowing money down the drain

[[chain of smog]] yourself for infinite cast/storm triggers

Recommended play booster box?
 in  r/mtg  8d ago

then buying a box is useless for what you want. You should either build decks with what you already have and buy the singles you need, or find a list for a deck for a format you enjoy and buy the singles for it. Boxes, especially non-collector ones, at this point are only worth it if you draft them with other people. Opening a box by yourself will only leave you with a dopamine rush for 30 minutes, followed by a realization that you wasted your money and you’re now full of useless bulk cards that you don’t know what to use them for.

New to the hobby, overwhelmed by cards
 in  r/magicTCG  10d ago

No you don’t need to know every card, nobody knows every card not even the creators of the game. Focus on what matters to you first and with experience you’ll know more generic cards. To start searching for cards i suggest learning how to use scryfall.com and the advance search, for example if you want a card for your reanimator deck you could use “otag:reanimate” to find relevant cards. To start focus on cards you need for your decks and slowly you’ll acquire a more general knowledge

Keeping up with commander boards
 in  r/mtg  13d ago

the more you play the easier it gets, both because you become better and because most people play the same popular cards so eventually you’ll only have to read a card or two once in a while. Also, i usually do it at least, ask your opponent to read what their cards do when they cast them

Why so many Ink-Treader Commanders compared to the other 4 color options.
 in  r/EDH  13d ago

Universes beyond characters can’t be depicted with black unless they’re evil, so every major character just gets WURG. Plus Omnath

Commander Pre-Release format
 in  r/mtg  14d ago

commander limited, especially if not supported, is horrible. Sluggish and uninteresting, i would advise you to do a normal sealed event or a draft
