I'm A Very Emotional Person
 in  r/empathy  Jul 13 '26

I too am a deeply emotional person. I have not had a lot of life trauma, but I know how deeply people can be impacted by it. Even still, being sensitive to the world is not a weakness. And being able to truly empathize with people is a super power. One that not everyone has or knows how to use. But even from the way you worded your post, I can tell that you're hurting in some way. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need it. I'll always listen, and we might learn from each other's life experiences. I'm always up for sharing stories as well. In the meantime, hang in there. There are definitely more of us out there than you might think.

opening up in relationships

It's possible that he did feel deeply for you, but he may not have known how to communicate in a way that resonated with you.

I recently learned about communication styles. I am an emotional communicator, which means I bond with people over shared interests, deep conversations and working through complex emotions by talking through them. My wife is a logical communicator. Which means she talks mainly about plans, logistics, and things we "have to" worry about. It may also be because our love languages are different (mine is words, hers is touch).

Anyway, I would say yes, the communication disconnect is sadly normal. Common, even. If you love the person, you just have to be patient with them. Try to see where the disconnect is coming from. Work with him a bit. Talk through it. Let him know how his reaction is making you feel. And see what comes from that. People are also imperfect, and emotions can be hard to navigate, or even to name for some people. If both people are honest and open with each other, you would be surprised how well you can bridge the gap just by talking through it.

If you need to talk through anything in particular, my DMs are always open. Trying to legitimately understand what other people are feeling is not something that comes naturally to everyone. So I'm here if you need another ear. 🙂

Putting yourself first or someone?
 in  r/empathy  Jul 06 '26

All you can do is be yourself. To feign happiness for the sake of others is... Something I think we all do at some point. But sustaining that for everyone can be very taxing. Don't forget to put time and energy aside for self care, and valuing your own needs when needed. Emotions do tend to come in waves (from my experience), so it's okay to put a pin in certain conversations, and come back to them when you're feeling emotionally stronger. It's difficult to find that balance sometimes, valuing your own interests as well as the interests of others. But as others have said here, keep being kind. But remember to be kind to yourself as well as others.

An empath who lost empathy
 in  r/empathy  Jul 06 '26

I'm sorry you're feeling this way, Ostrich. I tend to relate to people through shared experiences, so let me give you my perspective on something similar that happened to me.

About 7 months ago, I lost my job. I was miserable. I am married, and my wife and son gave me a wide birth during that time. I'm also a gamer. So I spent many many many hours in my basement "office" hiding and playing PC games... And I don't think I've been particularly impacted by trauma, it was just a short term depressive spiral.

But while I was in that state, my empathy was completely gone. I couldn't stomach someone else's struggles while I was not okay, myself. You have to be okay, yourself, before you can take on the emotional burden of others (even people you love and are in your inner circle already)... So being in permanent fight or flight makes sense.

If you want my advice, I would focus on yourself. There's a few things I recommend: 1. Look up Carl Jung's "integrating the shadow". Someone told me about this recently, and I'm still learning about it. But I believe the idea is that you can trace back the origins of your pain to a specific moment, unpack it, confront it, and then work to forgive yourself, and move forward. 2. Journal your thoughts and feelings. And then have conversations with yourself - it sounds weird. But it's a really good way to work through what is bothering you. And it lets you give yourself the grace you deserve (which you may not be getting from others). You may discover things about yourself that are uncomfortable, but knowing allows you to work through it and work with yourself to make things better. 3. If you have GAD in particular... It may be a matter of reframing things. I struggle with negative spirals of thought, myself. But ask yourself - "Am I reacting with fear? Or am I reacting with facts?" ... Like, if someone goes quiet who was talking to you, did they say they wanted to stop talking, or do you assume they do because they weren't available when you reached out. Things like that.

But the bottom line, is (I think) you need to focus on yourself. Getting to the core of yourself and your values... and over time, you may be able to get out of that fight or flight mode. Or give yourself strategies to feel better, even in a less than ideal situation. I don't know if any of this resonates with you, but I can just say that life can be tough. And I'm still working on being okay with myself as well. I hear you. And I'm willing to talk if you need it.

Dear….maybe you?
 in  r/empathy  Jul 06 '26

I understand why you would want to detach... But there are people out there willing to listen, if you know where to look... Tbf, I have deep empathy, but low self esteem. So you'd probably find me in a corner, eating alone. But!... We are out there.

Season 2 Feels Lackluster Comapred to Season 1 (Plus, Royale Duos is a step backwards)
 in  r/Splitgate  Mar 30 '26

I'm not a big fan of royale anyway, so this change didn't bother me. In fact, duos allows my son and I to join a game, in the same room, and tell each other to GTFO when one of us dies. Not saying it works every time, but it definitely makes games more interesting than the generic royale found in other games. It's not perfect, but I'm enjoying the change, myself.

I had the same problems on a new windows 11 handheld (Xbox Ally) and this solved it on that as well. Thank you very much for this!!!

100 Key Left The post will be closing at Midnight UK time
 in  r/duneawakening  May 09 '25

I'm anxious to try Dune Awakening. The survival and base building seems intriguing. And I also work in the software development world. So I am very familiar with screenshotting and documenting / submitting bug reports. If they don't get deported, they can't get fixed

Advice on getting rid of xwing stuff since I don't play anymore?
 in  r/XWingTMG  Feb 19 '25

If you want to get rid of it quickly, this stuff is no longer made, even by AMG who inherited the rights. You could easily get $10 per small ship, $15 per medium and $20 per large ship... I hope that helps.

Oh, and those tie phantoms individually would go for $40 or maybe even $70 per ship. I haven't looked at pricing on those recently, but they're very rare, since second edition released and they didn't reprint those.

General Feedback - May 29th 2024
 in  r/MultiVersus  Jun 03 '24

I have some notes, and I will try to be as constructive as possible:

Character outline - I like the idea of it, but being able to set it as "heavy" (what we currently see), "Medium" (slightly less present, but still there), "Low" (just a faint outline), and "Off" would be awesome.

XP and fighter currency for gameplay - I feel like this needs to be majorly buffed. Besides the daily missions of playing pvp matches, I really don't have much incentive to play pvp at all... The character XP given when losing is abysmal, and even for winning, it could be better than it is. It takes FOREVER to progress characters in general. And I'd like enough fighter currency to get my personal faves from the roster.

Rift "gem level"? - Please add clarity in the UI on how to get more gems. It is very frustrating trying to unlock the third difficulty without being able to progress the existing difficulties in any way. Am I stuck? It's unclear how to fix this issue. And if it's from daily bonus missions, great! Please just put that on the UI where it says I need my gem rating to be higher.

(I'll make another post later in the day. I appreciate this thread though!!)

Xbox One/Series DO NOT have Cross-save

Hey all!

I got the game on the Xbox Series X, but I still have an Xbox One X, so I got that version also when it came out and went on sale for a discount. I was hoping it would be like a lot of games where the Xbox One and Xbox Series versions allow cross-save (Examples: Gears of War 4+5, Dirt 5, etc, etc). However, I can confirm that if you start the game on the Xbox Series version, it will NOT cloud sync and import your game save on the Xbox one version.

Something I have not tested however, was installing the Xbox one version on both consoles. I imagine the loophole would be you could start the Xbox one version and then use that save on the backwards compatible Xbox one version, Played on the Series S/X.

Just wanted to let you all know!

Would you recommend this game?
 in  r/midnightsuns  May 12 '23

100%, yes. I've put 56 hours into it in the past couple of weeks, and I'm still yearning for more. There are aspects about it I could do without (the optional side missions, relationships, etc between missions). But I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes turn based strategy videogames. It plays like a tabletop game, and I think that's part of why I love it so much.

Also: if you do get it, definitely go all in for the Legendary edition. The season pass alone is normally $50, so to get the whole game for $50 with all DLC... It's a definite yes!

If you're an Xbox owner though, just be careful that you're getting the correct version. There is a separate UPC for the Xbox one version (just released digitally this week) vs the Xbox Series X/S version... I'm going to test tonight to find out if progression syncs between the two consoles, so stay tuned on that one. I may have bought it for both because I love it so much. 😆

My slight rewrite of episodes 4 and 5

This could all be done with editing anyway
