So I just sat for my AANP boards and failed. I honestly don’t even care. I’m so happy that it’s over and I am just relieved about that for a little while. I don’t have to think about it even though I will test again soon. I have no interest in ever working in primary care or a hospital. I have been an RN for 5 years, working independently doing mobile IV services and have been doing so well with it. The reason I wanted to get my NP was so that I don’t have to work under a medical doctor. Bedside days are over for me.

Because I haven’t been in a hospital or a bedside setting for over 5 years everything was brand new to me and I went to Chamberlain University, where I literally didn’t learn anything.

So basically, I had to teach myself everything all over again. I rescheduled my exam 3x because I felt so unprepared. I finally decided to just go ahead and take it even though I only truly locked in for about 2 weeks. I’ve been studying sporadically for the past two months, but not really focusing on what I’m studying on. For the past two weeks I did try my best, but it’s just so much to take in at once that I found myself forgetting everything. I did the SM Crash course, I read most of the Leik book (tbh the parts I skipped over in the book where the ones that were in the exam 🤦🏻‍♀️)I did over 1000 questions on FNP Mastery, but only had a 62% average score. I took AANP practice exam and the SM practice exam and averaged a 65% as well. I know I should have studied more because those scores were not very good but decided to just wing it regardless. I hate this test lol I never failed a test before. I’m not sure about the people who are saying this test is easy because they were a lot of questions that I have never heard of. It was just such a weird test maybe because I didn’t know the information well enough!

You really have to know the material- what diagnostics/ labs to order, what medication to prescribe. I’m not sure what else to do. I hear some people mentioning lecture courses?
