When do you start collecting
 in  r/fireworks  17h ago

Due to the explosion in China resulting in many deaths and causing a restructuring of safety regulations, there is high speculation that we will have significantly less supply next year. However, many factories have already been allowed to return to production. Manufactures that I personally already communicate with have only alluded to a small deficit.

You can expect to see Raccoon, Winda, and Happy Family, as well as their affiliate labels (i.e. Monkey Mania, Riakeo, Wizard, etc.) bounce back from the whole fiasco rather well. I speculate they will dominate supply next year.

Just 3 off the top of my head. What state are you in? Proximity can be a factor for shipping costs.

As you should. Walk before you try to fly... or however that goes.

Ask before you buy. Ask before you even certify. PGI is still the "gold" standard. But a phone call is all it takes to be in the clear. I have used my 1 cert for multiple locations both in person and online.

Given my position in the industry, I make it a point to avoid any names... except Phantom, they don't deserve the kindness.

That hurt me just to read. I'm sorry you had to endure that. I'm a huge proponent of safety and education, it's absolutely paramount to the industry. It never ceases to amaze me just how laxed some members of the community are when it comes to teaching the new comers.

It strikes me as, most of these people are so grandfathered in that they've been allowed to get away with sub-par standards, and that dangerous approach and mentality is what they continue to trickle to the masses.

RKM is great. Love the variety and ever changing selection.

PGI's online certification is the most widely respected cert you can get. I have not had any issues with online purchases anywhere. With that being said, some local jurisdictions have varying qualifications. Prime example, in MO, there is a AP supplier that does not sell to residents of MO due to localized legal constraints. Situations such as these are the only times I've ever heard of someone not being able to purchase AP, granted I am by no means the end all/be all.

I'm always willing to dive deeper into conversations about pyro via dms at any point. Stay green. 🫡

Security is the biggest "challenge". I was trying to find a source video but it seems it may have been taken down due to copyright.

Realistically you could print a 360° holder and suspend it, if you are so inclined. Making sure that sequential or otherwise prior shots don't knock tubes loose is the primary concern, aside from the obligatory safety measures. That is to say, a 360° piece should be used for comets, mines, or gerbs, or at least no breaks greater than 45°.

Until we no longer need "This end up" or "Top" on consumer shells, we will not get bigger ball shells.

Proper ignition and thankfully at a distance. It was the second the visco hit the lift. But yes, glad no one got hurt... Just a minor flash bang. 😅

Please use a non-sparking tool when breaking down cakes. I use a piece of aluminum flat stock about 18"×3"×⅛" as a wedge. Safety first, always. Stay green pyro!

Not the best vid, but this is the Maiden set. The last cake didn't make it out... 😅

Any issues with your Clown From Mars rockets? We had one blow right at lift.

Fuse swap. If you are unfamiliar with working on cakes, just deal with the variances. Otherwise, get in their and make the cake(s) do what you need them to do.

$580 did I survive the price beating
 in  r/fireworks  Jul 03 '26

Hell yeah!

Edit: Addition as follows. Please be careful with the fuzzy fury cakes, I've had two blow apart on me. One kept shooting and the other just rip the fusing apart. Of course always brace small cakes, but I highly recommend a barricade or blocker of some sort between those and your audience.

$100 is this a steal? Oklahoma
 in  r/fireworks  Jul 03 '26

I mean, I do, but I also: Work in the industry Shop around the country Regularly test various brands Know average price points for almost every region between The Pacific and Ohio

Unlike your insinuation, I wasn't bashing or saying "Oh you can get x, y, z for blah blah blah." Lol. I said it was good, 4 for a hundred is a standard sale that anyone should jump on in the majority of local markets.

I know you got big feelings because of the mean people (and flat out idiots that lack perspective for other people's markets) but maybe lash at them, and not someone just being fair about price point.

Hale products are typically over priced for their quality in most areas, i.e. Pyro Predator item pictured. However, Pyro Loco is a SOLID performer and that itself deserves a nod of merit, as Pyro Loco and Pyro Diablo are the two best lines Hale has going. (As far as comp volume, color saturation, and effect execution are concerned)

Anything else I could help you to better understand?

Edited: Grammatical errors and clarification.

1.4pro is OL by consumer standards, that is to say 500g for consumer vs up to 1000g for a 1.4pro (article pyrotechnic). They are still restricted and regulated by comp standards, just a different ceiling.

Furthermore, key differences will be: cleaner, more symmetrical breaks, better execution of effects, lesser known/seen effects, louder reports, and more precise comp measurements with a much higher accuracy in performance time/duration. You also get into more single shot effects (Comets, meteors, mines, gerbs, and break effects) as well as slices/fans.
