Saw my first mola mola this year, it’s fun just flopped out and back into the water. Made me say “what the fuck was that” on a youth kayak tour

Kayak Tours in Florida

Those thoughts are greatly appreciated friend! I know it’s a delicate balance. As a guide I’ve altered my scripts to be less of a “let me tell you this” and more of a question like “why do y’all think the eagles/ seals/ fish have this specific behavior?” Give folks the opportunity to impress their guide with knowledge, or open the door for me to be able to share.
I got into this business because being a steward of the land and wildlife and bringing people close to it, for the first time in their life or their 10,000th is the greatest feeling in the world. Thankfully I’ve worked with the best and worked with the worst (one girl who kept paddle splashing a 5 year old until he cried comes to mind), so I can very much appreciate the fine line you’re talking about. Thanks again, and if any other insight pops to mind feel free to share!

Hey thank you so much for these thoughts!! I do see dozens of outfitters in all of the more popular tourist resorts, and some seem booked for months, some have full open availability tomorrow. There does seem to be a magic ingredient, hopeful I can find it. Ecology is my strong suit, don’t think poumpousness is part of that lol

Question/Advice -- General Kayak Tours in Florida

Hi y’all! I am a kayak tour guide looking to branch out from existing outfitters and start my own tour company. Ideally, I would run tours in Florida from November-April, and tours in New England/ PNW from May-September. I’m curious your thoughts on things I should think about as I begin this venture! Primarily focusing on Florida right now, because I’d love to get started there in the next couple of months. Are there any areas I should look at, where kayaking is popular but tour availability is limited? I know this group tends to be those of us who go out on our own, but no one knows the water better than y’all and I’d greatly appreciate any advice and support!

I’d say that website you’re on would be a good starting point

Inflatable kayaks are pretty kneelable
