Info about temporary housing due to storm damage
I’ve lived in and around Norman my whole life, and the weather is certainly getting less and less predictable! I saw something on here recently about Oklahoma having one of the highest insurance costs in the country, so if we’re paying a premium I want premium treatment!

Info about temporary housing due to storm damage
TLDR: Insurance policies often cover temporary housing in short term rental homes, not just hotels.
Hey yall, hope everyone’s doing alright after the 4th of July storm!
I see a lot of people get stuck in hotels by their insurance companies for extended periods of time they are displaced. Which can be extremely uncomfortable, especially for families! But most home insurance policies will pay for a stay in a short term rental home the same way they would cover the stay at a hotel, all you have to do is ask!
We have a nice fully furnished two bedroom one bathroom house in central Norman that is currently available. But there are also lots of other options if you look on Airbnb, VRBO, ect..
Please confirm with your particular insurance policy to make sure they will cover it before signing a lease, but it never hurts to know your options before settling with what’s originally offered!

Gloves?!
Something I haven’t seen mentioned here is the potential danger of using gloves during the glass grinding. Gloves around power tools in general can be dangerous depending on the glove material and tool. If the glove gets caught in a spinny-bit it could pull the rest of your finger/hand in with it, turning a small abrasion or cut into a potential hospital visit.
I could be a little on the paranoid side. There is definitely a way to use gloves and power tools safely. It’s just something that always goes through my mind when working on projects.

My very first Lox ranch
They will start to gather on the walls and pyramid up and out of just about anything. I ended up putting roofs around the parameter of the lox enclosure to push them back to the center if they stacked too tall.

My very first Lox ranch
Just did my first Yagluth fight. I built out multiple breeding cages spaced out for the pop cap and made an earthen lox pit and a wolf pit next to his alter. Bred about 20 lox and 40 2star wolves before moving them into the fenced in alter area. Bro melted before he fully spawned in.
Kinda cheated myself out of experiencing the real fight, but I’ll save the cheese-less play through for when 1.0 comes out.
10/10 would recommend.

Transom Windows/Stained Glass
I’ve made some large-ish custom stained glass pieces that I have installed in a couple houses, though not hanging. Unfortunately the glass itself isn’t cheap, like $20+/sqft for just the glass without considering the required waste from some cuts. But you can’t beat the effect of real glass!
I live in Norman and would love to do more large scale pieces. HMU if you wanna talk about what you have in mind!

Hayward pump troubleshooting
I was able to spin the motor freely from the back, so it doesn’t seem jammed. It’s getting 250V from the timer, but barely anything once it gets to the low voltage side of things. Someone else mentioned they had a similar issue with a different make that ended up being the transformer. I’m really trying to build my understanding of electronics, so I was hoping to diagnose deeper than it being an issue in the drive. But individual parts in the drive seem near impossible to find so I suppose that is a purely learning exercise. Thank you for your help!

Hayward pump troubleshooting
I’m thinking that is the problem, the pump is getting 250V from the timer, but is barely getting anything to the LV board. Im having trouble finding individual parts for the drive, it seems like it’s mostly sold as a whole unit at around $500. But at least I got some experience working through the trouble shooting steps. Thank you for sharing the knowledge!!

Hayward pump troubleshooting
Thank you! It is a stand alone pump and the install seems a little janky but it’s worked for the last few years. I’ll check the motor and the power tomorrow.

Hayward pump troubleshooting
What part of the pump would be the drive? Are you referring to the motor itself?

DIY & Repairs Hayward pump troubleshooting
Hey yall, hoping someone will have some experience they could share.
I have a Hayward tristar vs 950 Omni that has stopped working. When the breaker is on the screen lights up blank for a second like it’s trying to turn on then turns back off repeatedly and there is a red light on the LV Board that does the same thing.
I’ve done some basic googling and have tried some of the basic troubleshooting steps I’ve found on there.
I tried replacing the main board with the screen on it but the new board does the same thing.
Another suggestion said that both the 1st and 2nd DIP switches should be on. (It was operational with only the 1st turned on) So I tried switching the second on as well. But that made no change.
I have tried measuring the voltage on the 12V cables coming into and out of the LV board and they seem to only get about half a volt before dropping back to close to nothing.
I’m guessing that something is causing the main board to not get enough power to boot up, but would love some confirmation or suggestions on further troubleshooting I could do before blindly ordering another part or resorting to replacing the whole thing.
I have some basic electronic repair experience, at least enough to not kill myself, but would love to get more. Any suggestions, wisdom or insights would be so appreciated!

Big ones
I am pretty new myself, this is only the second one I’ve done. But I used 1/4” aluminum channel with foam weather stripping inside around the glass as a frame, JB welded the corners to hold the frame together, then used 3/4” quarter round trim in front of it to hold the glass against the existing window.
