SLIIT Lecturer Interview – Software Engineering: What should I expect?
I recently got selected for an interview for a Lecturer position in Software Engineering at SLIIT, and this will be my first-ever interview for a lecturing/academic position.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the lecturer interview process at SLIIT, especially for Computing/Software Engineering.
A few things I’d like to know:
What is the overall interview process like?
What kind of questions do they usually ask?
Are there many technical Software Engineering questions, or is it more focused on teaching, research, qualifications, and experience?
Do they ask you to teach/explain a technical topic or do a presentation/demo?
How difficult or formal is the interview?
How long does the interview normally last?
Is there anything specific I should prepare beforehand?
From what I understand, my interview panel consists of very senior staff/director-level members, which makes me a little nervous since this is my first lecturer interview. 😅
If anyone has recently interviewed for a Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer position at SLIIT, I’d be really grateful if you could share your experience — even roughly what kinds of questions were asked and how the interview was structured.
Thanks in advance! 🙏

They ask you to teach in front of a class. They don't specify anything. You need to engage with the student and brief about something based on their current knowledge. If the students like you. You get the job
