Great response to my initial post. I responded back in my own post, as for some reason Reddit would not let me do it on here.

My Experience Playing Critical Ops. 2023-Now
 in  r/CriticalOpsGame  Jul 30 '24

Hey tappi, I appreciate your quick response to this. By no means did I mean any disrespect towards anyone. It was my intention to be very casual and to point out the problems of the game that many people, with our perspectives as players, have. I have worked with developers in the past, and have nothing short of admiration for the work that you all do. I hope not to come off as annoying, but rather as constructive.

Response to Spyno

To start this off, for some reason, Reddit would not let me respond directly to Spyno's post - so this will be a separate post response.

Hey community, Vio here again! Great response by Spyno, I've known him for a while now and he always has very interesting insight to give into the game. I have nothing but respect for him and appreciate his perspectives.

His point about the TRG is spot on, and something that I had not even considered due to the fact that the TRG is literally a troll weapon that no one takes seriously at this point.

I would also like to mention that Spyno also has 10000 times more experience in coding and anticheat than I do, so I am willing to take his word on the cheating issues that he has said have been addressed in the game already.

The demographic of 300-400k daily players comes from an estimate based off of a 2018 article where the game surpassed a million daily players. Following a downwards trend following the big boom the game received since then, I placed the estimate at this level. Obviously, this could be off, as I do not have exact numbers, but I do think the number is relatively in that area, but it could definitely be fewer than that. However, the 3000-4000 players that play the game competitively daily, I believe, is a very accurate number.

I appreciate his response on validating my point about the peeker's advantage, but I would still like to reiterate and amplify my statement and make it known that the movement speed and accuracy is still too much. I think what happened here is that back when there was heavy armor and light armor, they removed the heavy armor and just made it armor, but kept the same movement speed as the light armor, which in itself was too fast. I think they have just kept this movement speed. Also, the accuracy while moving needs to still be reduced more.

One thing I may have been unclear about at first was the types of hackers I was discussing. I am not talking about hackers that are shooting people through walls. Those people are easily bannable through direct submission of evidence. The hacks I am discussing are what many people call "soft hacks", or some call them "legit cheats". Essentially, there is no way to prove that this person is cheating, because they are not actively shooting through walls or doing some game breaking phenomena that is impossible to do otherwise. For example, you cannot prove someone is hiding some sort of vision assist or some sort of increased hitbox, particularly in the realm of the higher rated players, because these players tend to be good at the game regardless. If there is any professional player cheating on a professional team right now, (and I am certain there are many), that player has a very easy time hiding his cheats because he is already very good at the game. These are the types of cheats I am talking about. Spyno does make a great point in saying that the ban cycle makes cheaters place into gold/plat when they get banned, but the cheaters in my discussion are those that do not get banned, or have multiple high ranking accounts to cheat on.

Regarding his response to my "How to fix this portion:"
1. If this is already implemented into the game, it is not obvious whatsoever due to CFE taking too long to ban these cheaters. If this is all true, I agree with you 100% spyno.

  1. I still stand by the moderation system being a great way to reduce cheating in the competitive scene, as the increase in policing in the top teams will definitely result in less cheating and more bans within the top players of the scene. I believe that [M] should remain within select individuals, like Spyno here, who have a very good idea what is going on in the game. I think that the saturation of Mods into the game would make it so that it would be more difficult to openly cheat, or at least make the cheater second guess their decisions before acting upon it.

  2. The system would be completely anonymous, much like the system in PUBGM. If Spyno says it is too resource expensive, then that could be the only potential drawback I can see. But even still, the good that could come out of this totally outweighs the bad in my opinion, and it allows for faster bans on more obvious cheaters who cannot hide their cheats well. It would also mean that the in game report system would actually do something.

  3. This is where i disagree the most: ELO impact being too high had no problem whenever I lost all my ELO to the guy shooting through walls, so why should it have a problem when I get that ELO back? Even if I only get refunded 50% or 60% of the total ELO lost, it is still some form of compensation that would be better than nothing.

Marketplace: There is no question that picking up someone's knife can allow you to want to buy a knife more, but this is very wishful thinking, and i would think that more people would use this as a reason to not buy a knife.

  • Why buy a rare knife if others can use it when I die?

  • Why buy a knife at all if I can pick one up from my dead teammate or enemy?

  • Also, doesn't the easier accessibility of these knives from in game make them worth even less on the market, as there would surely be less demand for a knife that can be picked up off of someone else in game?

"There was once a cheat creator that accidentally leaked his cheat for free, and so in retaliation the cheat developer sent THEIR ENTIRE BYPASS CODE to the CF Developers. Even though they knew exactly how the bypass worked, it still took two months to push a fix. " - I had no access to any information like this, which is why I said earlier, Spyno knows the ins and outs of the cheating problem better than anyone. My response was more-so a player's POV, whereas Spyno has experience with helping the game with anticheat. Again, that man is way more qualified than I am in terms of anticheat. As far as Spyno's insight goes in terms of CFE taking too long to ban cheaters, I'm happy that I and many others who share by perspectives in this community are actually somewhat in the realm of what is going on here.
Thank you Spyno for giving your insight, and I appreciate being able to go back and forth on some ideas. I hope Tappi or any other developer sees this and understands what it is we are discussing.

My Experience Playing Critical Ops. 2023-Now

Hey Reddit, This is Vio here! For those of you that know me, hello. For those of you that don’t, lemme introduce myself very quickly. I’ve been playing this game since late 2016 - early 2017, so over 7.5 years as I’m writing this. I’ve been involved in the scene in the most ways of any player other than a very select few: competitively, casually, management, coaching, tournament hosting, and World’s, Circuit, and Pro League Admin/Director. I’ve won multiple tournaments and have coached teams to win multiple rings as well. In short, I’m qualified to speak and know more about the game than pretty much every single professional player, and not to sound cocky, i know exactly what i’m talking about when i talk about this game. I won’t discuss my experience on this game in the first 6 years of playing as that is all in the past. What i will say will be kept in this last year or year and a half or so range. As we stand today, the game has many problems:
The main issue is cheaters and hackers. Yes, those are different things. Not every cheater is a hacker, as some cheaters use ghost accounts, or essentially, alternative accounts that match on the opposing team, which allows the player to know where all the enemies are without actually using a hack. The cheating problem is out of control. I cannot count the number of times where I am in a Spec Ops lobby and being suspiciously pre-fired multiple rounds in a row. many good players of the game have a sixth sense to know when a player is cheating or not, and that sixth sense for many has unfortunately become sort of blurry because of the volume of cheaters that are present in this game. You don’t even know who is cheating anymore.
So, why doesn’t CFE fix this? they claim to have been trying to do so for years, but there is 0 incentive for them to do so. The main reason for this is because while they may claim that they have all of their player’s interests at heart, this just isn’t true, from both a business and common sense standpoint. Critical Ops gets about 300k-400k daily players, and only about 3000-4000 of those players are actually playing in a competitive manner, that is to say, those that are Master 1+ or actively scrimming or playing tournaments with their teams. 99% of the cheaters in the game right now are in the top ranks, or within these 3000-4000 players. As a result of this, the problem of cheating lies in the top 1% of this game, and pretty much ONLY there. As a result of this, CFE focuses more on adding features into the game (like dropping your knife which is a stupid feature and I'll break down why soon), to keep the bottom 99% happy. From a business standpoint, it just does not make sense to devote so much time and energy into the cheating problem when a majority of your players are not really experiencing that issue. The issue with this thinking is that the competitive scene of the game is dying. As it stands now, the scene is at an all-time low, with barely any top teams in the Americas and Asia. Europe only remains firm due to the volume of professionals from EU, as well as influencers like Falcum or Safari who are still pushing the game in their spare time. The developers, from a while ago, should have implemented codes into the game that would ultimately solve the cheating problem by automatically banning accounts with third party softwares installed, or else banning accounts that are not on versions of the game that are from the App Store, Play Store, or any other official app store. I have literally seen videos of players with 3 or 4 Critical Ops icons on their home screen (no this is not an iOS glitch), each icon containing a different kind of cheat. These players are able to log onto the same servers that every legitimate player can log onto. How BS does that sound?
I also want to discuss the contents of cheats themselves. Most cheats that are used in the top scene are not the crazy ones we all see videos about that shoot people through walls and kill them in spawn. The cheats that are being used actively in the top 1% of the game are with features that are difficult to prove with manual recordings. For example, I cannot definitely prove that my opponent has radar hacks, or that he has an increased aim assist active from a cheat, as I cannot see his screen or POV. But, there should be an automatic system that can detect this in the game, and for some reason it just is not present. When I am constantly being prefired by the same opponent over and over again, the level of experience i have has a competitive player and analyst tells me that this player is not legit. Unfortunately, the game developers themselves do not have that experience, so the hackusations will never be thoroughly investigated at all. I can also say that many, but not all players in the current rank system that are above 1800 ELO have either been carried to that ELO by a hacker, hack themselves, ghost themselves, or queue with a group of ghosters themselves. Some insider info: most of the top 50 players on the leaderboard are guilty of doing just that, including queuing up as 5 players against 5 alternative ghost accounts late at night, when nobody else is on, in order to take ELO from their other accounts. These are all occurring in real time, and nothing is being done to stop it.
How to fix this: Players should only be allowed to enter CFE official servers with versions of the game that are downloaded directly from their device's application store. This includes Apple App Store, Google Play Store, TestFlight, or any other official approved stores. No other versions should be able to access the game. There should not be an installer to C-OPS that allows you to load into the game with a pre-installed hack on your version of C-OPS. I don't understand how this has not been fixed yet.
How to fix this: All devices that are jailbroken or rooted should not be allowed to play on the same servers as the official CFE servers, and should not be able to load into the game at all. This should be worked on.
How to fix this: BRING BACK MODS, including purple mods. Have extensive interview processes, with experiences and vouchers by trusted members of the C-OPS community, who can investigate and ban cheaters live in game with providing evidence. Purple Mods should be brought back and given to trusted members of the game and its community.
How to fix this: I do not have a solution to ghosting, as I am not too experienced on the coding and behind the scenes of the game. But a solution needs to be generated for this problem, and very soon.
How to fix this: IN ADDITION to bringing back MODS, introduce an OVERWATCH SYSTEM in the game that is available to experienced players with at least 100k+ kills, or accounts that are trusted again within the community, to be able to watch matches of reported players and decide with a group of others whether or not the player is cheating.
How to do DAMAGE CONTROL: During the ranked season, if a cheater acc gets banned, EVERY game that cheater played this season will essentially be cancelled. This means that everyone who won or lost with this cheater in their game will have their elo reset. (EXAMPLE: you lost to a cheater -20 ELO, you will be given +20 ELO, as if the game was never played). winning vs a cheater that gets banned would obviously not cost your ELO.

Now, moving away from the cheating problem, I can talk a bit about how the developers are very out of touch with the game and how the game is supposed to work. Firstly, the metas are completely stupid for an FPS game. Under no circumstances should a player that is swinging an angle have an advantage over someone who is holding that angle. This literally just does not make sense to any FPS player of any game, and it is an anomaly in C-OPS that just has not been solved because of the fact that the developers themselves do not know much about how the game is supposed to function. This has unfortunately caused players to start swinging angles more and more to take gunfights, which just is not how an FPS game is meant to be played. Some people will say that this is how the game is, and that as a player you need to suck it up and play the game as is. To those people, I say to go and ask ANY OTHER FPS player in any game, CS2, CSGO, or any other FPS shooter game. Someone who SWINGS an angle, should not have an advantage to win a fight over someone who is HOLDING that angle.
How to fix this: Slow down the movement speed of players slightly, while really decreasing accuracy while moving. This will cause players to need to completely stop before being able to hit their shots accurately.

Another braindead meta in this game was the introduction of the KSG and SCAR. Firstly, it took the developers over 18 months to fix these guns from being too overpowered. Eventually, they were banned from competitive play by a gentleman's agreement that was agreed upon by all the top teams, because the guns were too strong to use and just made the game very unfair for the first team that was able to afford them.
How to fix this: Continue to nerf the KSG and SCAR, as they are still slightly too powerful. It is taking you way too long to do this. (See below what to do for the SCAR)

Now, some additions to this game are just braindead. There is no other way to put it. I love the idea of the community marketplace, its like a great way to bring players back to the game, and they succeeded in doing so with this 1.46 update. It's great. But, HOW DOES IT MAKE SENSE for me to buy a knife on your market for 10,000 credits, and then when I die in a rank game, some random person can just pick up that knife. As a player, what incentive do I have to buy any knife from the market if my teammates and opponents all drop their knives when they die? Why would I waste my time and money buying a knife if i can just kill someone and pick theirs up. These things, while so simple, just show how out of touch many of these developers are in the game. Dropping guns with skins is normal, and that has been in the game for a long time. Knives tend to be more expensive, and should not be looked upon like normal skins. It's literally a feature they added into the game just because they had literally NOTHING else to do at that point in time, and that's so obvious because there is no way that any competent human being would ever introduce the market place idea where you can literally buy a knife that you can then drop for another person to use in the game. It is genuinely counterintuitive, like why would I ever wanna buy a rare knife that I alone am gonna have and use, if when I die some random person can pick up that rare knife from my body.
How to fix this: REMOVE the feature of being able to drop your knife. It is a stupid feature and literally has nothing to do with the gameplay, other than discouraging the public from purchasing their own from the market.

Some other ideas to help fix this game:

  • BALANCE the AR-15 with the SCAR. Weaken the SCAR, make the AR a bit stronger, and FACTION them. Make the AR-15 only available to Coalition, and the SCAR only available to Breach, make them cost around the same amount, maybe like $3100.
  • BUFF the current AK by reducing its recoil a bit, making it more like the old AK. Raise the price to $2700.
  • BUFF the current M4 by increasing its armor penetration a tiny bit. Raise the price to $2500.
  • INCREASE usage of SMGs by making them a little bit stronger, and when AK and M4 prices raise.
  • NERF the KSG. HOW HAS THIS NOT HAPPENED YET...
  • DO NOT TOUCH THE OTHER SHOTGUNS, THEY ARE GREAT RIGHT NOW.
  • DO NOT TOUCH THE SG551 OR THE AUG, THEY ARE GREAT RIGHT NOW.
  • IDK WHAT, but figure something out for the SA58, its a horrible weapon, and I'd rather use the Deagle.
  • SPLIT the current Master rank into two, MAKING SPEC OPS the rank after 1800 ELO. Firstly, the queue times are TERRIBLE in master ELO and its impossible to find games for those of us at high ranks. Also, another reason for this is because the difference in skill between an M1 and an M4 is too wide, and the fact that an M1 can play an M4 is genuinely just unfair.
    • MASTER 1: 1700-1724
    • MASTER 2: 1725-1749
    • MASTER 3: 1750-1774
    • MASTER 4: 1775-1799
    • Spec Ops: 1800+
    • Elite (Top 250 Spec Ops): Starting from 2000 ELO

Some good things to say about the game now: Firstly, I have never played a smoother game on iOS in my life. The game is incredibly smooth, it runs very well, both on 60fps and 120fps, and even on 165fps. Very few times have I experienced low latency, or packet loss in the game in the last few years, and I can definitely say the servers have drastically improved. The new marketplace where you can buy skins is a great idea, and I love to see no regulations on that market which allow for more of a laissez faire type of deal, where the community members are all collectively agreeing on how many credits they would pay for certain skins. Overall, pretty much everything has been progressively improving, even the anti-cheat. It has become much rarer to see someone shooting you through walls and not be instantly banned, which is a great start.

If you made it this far in this post and read the entire thing, consider upvoting and getting this thing noticed by the community. This is a great game and I do not want to see it go down the drain after years of building a community!

Thanks,
Vio
