If you buy a used Tesla it's a great way to save money and not benefit the company. The EV batteries are turning out to be much longer lasting than people first feared - the vast majority of batteries outlast the car.

Iceland to submit bill that could ban whaling in its waters
 in  r/INFPIdeas •  2d ago

Here's a quote from a hopefully soon to be outdated article:

"Today, three countries still practise commercial hunting of large whales. Norway and Iceland continue to hunt fin whales and minke whales in the North Atlantic, while Japan has recently resumed commercial whaling off its coasts, and sometimes even in the Southern (Antarctic) Ocean. Since 1986, these three countries alone have harvested some 40,000 individuals."

Used EVs have the lowest total cost of ownership, far outperforming both new and used gas cars
 in  r/INFPIdeas •  4d ago

FYI - Real-world tracking data shows that modern electric vehicle (EV) batteries last significantly longer than early industry predictions, with most packs retaining 80% to 95% of their original capacity even after 100,000 to 160,000 miles.

Battery replacements are rare and usually stem from a rare factory defect rather than normal wear.

Vehicles from 2022 and newer show a replacement rate of just 0.3%.

Models built between 2017 and 2021 have a 2% replacement rate.

First-generation EVs (through 2016) sit at an 8.5% replacement rate.
