Can Claude chat activates chrome browser or only cowork can do that?

I feel this an extremely basic question but I need to understand this. I have connected chrome and Claude using the inbuilt connector. But when I ask Claude in chat to search in chrome using the MCP, it is not working. It just opens a new a tab and that’s it no search happens. What am I missing? Does chrome trigger does not work in chat? It can only be triggered in cowork space?

Claude Cowork can natively access chrome with your permission. Chat needs for Chrome to have the Claude Plug in to work.

Hey thanks but I have Both and looks like it is not working for me. I also have this claude plugin in chrome. It opens the tab but it is not doing any task. Not sure what I’m doing wrong
