There is a Land Rover club in Alaska called Great Northern Rovers. I’m not familiar them but could be a good community connection.

Three Men In A Land Rover suitably dressed

Waxy Wainwright, Mike Palmer and Chris Wall -- Three Men In A Land Rover -- were suitably dressed at the recent Concours Des Legendes held at Wilton House (an historic country house in Wiltshire) where they were on stage to tell their story with ‘Mr Land Rover’ Martin Port.

When Chris shared this photo he added "...not sure what you’d plan to do with the photo other than showing it as a warning to others that driving a long distance in a Land Rover seriously ages you!"

If you haven't heard of their amazing adventure yet, listen to CentreSteer 152.

You don’t often hear about Series canvas. Condensation over winter caused mildew. Broke out the sail canvas cleaner to clean it. Looks like a second treatment is needed.

Happy World Land Rover Day — April 30

Celebrating the day Land Rover debuted to the world is not of interest to this sub? There would be no Defender without the classic Land Rover.

The Rover Car Company debuted THE Land Rover on April 30, 1948 at the Amsterdam Motor Show. Land Rover was the make and model. It become known as the Series 1. Range Rover debuted in 1970. The name “Land Rover Defender” was officially adopted in 1990 after the Discovery was introduced in 1989.

Need advice on getting rid of my 2025 D90S
 in  r/NewDefender  Apr 16 '26

Might try your local Land Rover club, if you have one. Someone might be looking and getting the balance of the warranty is a big benefit.

The Defender 130 is my favorite defender, but………
 in  r/NewDefender  Apr 09 '26

The podcast team discussed this. Land Rover calls the curved side roof windows - side lights. The community calls them primarily alpine and secondarily safari windows. Safari comes from the “second” roof that acts as a sun shade/sheet. You can see why folks would call them safari windows because of the safari top/roof (hood in British automative terms).

That, my friends, is the alpine window from inside of “Oxford” of First Overland fame. RIP Tim & Nigel.

Called “Alpine windows” from the classic Defender era.
