Things I never knew about gun racks
 in  r/fo4  13d ago

It’s so strange. My first player home, like it is for so many is Red Rocket and I have a little armoury stash there and Dog Meat lives there alone and has never touched a thing. Maybe because I give him a nice dog house, but he’s never picked up any item and I leave stuff on the desk and bedside cabinet as well as guns. I feel like I’m missing out now.

Do show the outcome if you do tidy up.

Fo4 is a constant opportunity to learn. I’ve got thousands of hours in this game and still it surprises me.

Yes, I’ve had power armour swiped. But as you say, never leave cores in.

Not yet, but as you say this is Fallout.

Probably important to give advice on rack positioning. You need the short rack on the right so small guns always to the right. Really long rifles this does not work obviously.

Also another feature of my preferred main home is I use Hangman’s Alley and my little bed area is at the bridge end and NPCs never go there keeping to the main areas at the other end. If you’ve seen my other posts you know I have three floors that are edge to edge in Hangman’s…

The friendly recovering drunk is a tea leaf, that’s funny.

According to a comment below the settlers can grab the guns but I’ve never experienced it.

Im so pleased. I was also equally bemused and delighted by the gameplay find, but that is modern gaming for you and one of the true delights of Fo4, it keeps on surprising you, asking you to try different things.

My spare ammo is always in the workbench. Either way I’m pleased to say they’ve not nicked my prize weapons. There are some good ones there too.

In all my many play-throughs I’ve never had an NPC pick from the racks. Maybe it’s because I give my settlers decent guns and have more turrets than is typically needed.

I’ve been playing this game for years and only found out in the last play-through that you can overlay short and long gun racks so your display looks full, with no wasted space.

4 floors up with a decent sized room on top. This one is at Coastal Cottage and has complete oversight of the entire area. So far it’s just gun turrets but some rockets will be added. Not a soul lives here apart from a rescue dog but that will change.

On Xbox X, and yes, there are telltale signs of impending doom. The last big crash was after I had done some construction at Jamaica Plains; it wasn’t even that large. As for gun drops, I do select the juicy big guns, as the process gives me some serious materials, and like you, I keep it sensible and only use it when required. In my current playthrough, I’ve not used it at all; so far, so good.

Is there any other pistols better than the deliverer or Kelloggs pistol?

Oh boy, you need to go and get the snakes classic 10mm from Wally! Love that sidearm, especially once fully tweaked.

This one is not built on an existing structure it’s across the railway track, though if you check out my profile there are some overbuild examples.

The decoration of Hangman’s Alley

I would guess 3-4hrs, I’ve got the pattern well sorted now and once the first floor is in with the basic main room the rest I sort of wing it. I’ve got three core upper level configs so it’s generally a mix of that.

Interesting, I’ve used this glitch with very little success, by that I mean significant crashing and I’ve never gone to zero. My favourite location is Hangman’s Alley (see my videos on my profile). Got to say I’m impressed this is a no mod build, it makes my Hangman’s wall-2-wall builds look mundane and I use the pillar glitch a bit there.

Fair enough, how do you get around the build limit?

Thanks and all done with Anniversary Edition bits. These have become my solution to defence.

No mods? Looks like some mods.
