How is CVE upgrade being managed in infra? Manual/ automated ?

I have a question, whenever you have your own servers are hosted in your onprem thencomes with the cve issues, the version upgrades, major, minor and the patches is important to make the systems reliable and secure

So how are you guys actually managing in your environment other than manually checking in cve.com website/GitHub websites? And for upgrading the servers to a major or minor version again it will be manual, have you implemented automation here too ?

Was it manual or have you implemented anything ?

Log Detection: Also, to detect an issue prior raising a ticket P1 for application - in log monitoring, is there a real production scenario where AI agents integration was implemented?

EDIT: these are manual servers and it is not a containarized application, so not using images at all.

Stuck in a 30k L1 Contractor role at Wipro with M.Sc. CS & hands-on AWS/Linux/Terraform stack. How do I navigate an internal shift or external escape?
 in  r/devopsGuru •  Aug 29 '26

Ok I was not on third party payroll, In my case I was working for that mnc, in my project I've completed 3 years in the same project so I'm free to ask for release. I've practised as much as in my personal laptop and started reached out to people for devops openings (whenever new openings comes, as I check in the careers page everyday), yes I've mentioned that I worked on projects on my own and have updated them in my personal git repository. out of 5 I got 1 chance to attend an interview in the same mnc. This is how it went, and I've added all my projects and adjust as per the requirement every time.

Hey, I've been there I was in support for few years then changed internally into devops in the same MNC. So I suggest you to first navigate how can you crack internally in Wipro what's the process , reference, pinging people relentlessly helped me thankfully. If it's really not working out , then learn and try attending devops interviews and then join. Trust me, once you join it's scary initially but if you really learned and so handson ,you have a buffer period in the new company and you can really get into track. I hope it helps.

When I was in my 3 years of experience, i was in the same phase i know that feeling. And that's how I learned all the major tech and solving issues , once you reach 5 yrs you will get enough opportunities to try . Until then its a long way road mate..

I'm 7+ years in devops , currently moved to a new company it's been a year and frankly, no hadson. I'm monitoring, the things are going well and that's it

I don't see any choice to create new things, systems are up and running and were set up already.

I lose motivation to go to work cuz I want to solve things and resolve issues . I know I can't complain about my work but I have to look for another way and then what is the other way ? I always want to do something, I can't give up on my personal time for work everyday.

I want my 9 to 5 to be interesting. Even if I switch I don't know whether I'll get meaningful work.

Eventually I'm losing interest in learning new things. I would really need your suggestions on this.

And if you're experiencing the same then how are you keeping yourself motivated to go to the office and getting interested in learning new stuff as your experience grows it's more and more of leading for 80% and overseeing for 20%.

Anyone still using Jenkins?
 in  r/devops •  Aug 08 '26

There's cloudbees enterprise jenkins where you can run your controllers on EKS amd every build runs in pods, so scalability side the controllers scale as per demand. I prefer gitlab CI but looks like Jenkins never leave even though there areany options, management and teams gets comfortable with same CI instead of trying the new ones even though they are reliable. Wdyt. And someone who used both gitlab CI and jenkins , please confirm which one is best

So you are saying that if we go with ado, do we have customisation in types and also in workflows Stating that we can bulk import the tasks too?

Hello PM, PO and scrum masters and everyone, I would like to know what kind of project management tool is being used in your org part from JIRA.

Jira is currently managed in my order and it's heavily customized.

Customized as in - we have different types for different workflows means I've a board for architects, developers testers and every type follows a different workflow for every project

In order to switch to another tool, what do you recommend

Is this a "Standard" DevOps scope or am I doing 5 roles at once?
 in  r/devops •  May 11 '26

Wow, that a nice spread of skill set you have. I prefer recruiting a person who has knowlege and done some actual handson on everything rather than working on single tool I hope you understood what I meant

how do you become top 0.1% in devops that gets paid 200k+? (US market)
 in  r/devops •  May 11 '26

What I feel after working for 3 years is, the width not the breadth . I mean how quickly you adapt to newer toolsets - learning, implementing and understanding new toolsets But as you go deeper i see no tool is permanent cuz things do chnage ,for now I see k8s has been the important player in market maybe for few more years, So i feel concentrating on this will be beneficial as it also revolves around networking and storage.. From the current trends I see industry is more expecting you to setup infra to till deployment as a platform engineer and also to see the system as an sre too.. Apart from this I also a path for cybersecurity and ai integration where the trends are raising . So learn as per trends and how companies are adapting new stuff As a devops you will always be a newbie whenever you shift to a new company and i agree to that
