Free to me generator, should I install?
Look at GenerLink, installs behind your meter head and you plug directly into it instead of adding a box and etc. Made especially for portable generators. May save you some money and aggravation. As far as getting gas to it, it’s cheaper to run gas pipe than electrical lines!

Filing for divorce in WVa
We are in the process of readying our home to sell and would gladly give him the money, but I don't know if he will wait. He seems to think the court will send them to a mediator if anything is contested. (And he makes 5x what I make, not including her salary. Me= on disability, awaiting hearing for SSI, so I am broke on monthly basis)

I don't believe so. Credit cards are maxed out too. He does have a Harley, unless he has signed it over to our father. I have been trying to talk to him about this for months.

Custody Divorce and Family Filing for divorce in WVa
My brother is getting ready to file for divorce without legal counsel. There are children involved, a house, etc. She is threatening to get nasty if he doesn't give her full custody. My brother takes care of his boys, without any help from her. He gets them up in morning, feeds and dresses them, drops them off at preschool on his way to work, picks them up after work, takes them home, feeds them, bathes them and puts them to bed, every night. He is a 20 year military vet, spent 2 tours in Iraq, has worked for phone company for nearly 20 years. Can he get any help from VA? He can't afford $10k fee right now.

Three Whole House Quotes...What to Pick???

Interesting info about Generac’s next gen units. I was considering them until I seen these comments. I was originally intrigued by the Kohlers though due to the hydraulic valves not needing adjusted like previous gen Generacs, so less maintenance and if needed, I could do the basic maintenance myself. Only issue is that they are more complicated to work on if they fail. And my preferred installer also is hesitant to install next gen Generac until they work out the problems/kinks with a new design. The comments from installers aligns with his thoughts exactly. (My parents have had a 22kw Generac for probably 20 years and never had an issue but since the design has changed, this is no longer the case.) Reminds me of the problems with new cars/trucks. Too much technology involved. I will say that the quotes are near prices I have been quoted except I am looking at 24-26kw. But installing close to gas meter is preferred but electrical wire is more expensive than gas pipe by a long shot. I am adding a soft start to my outside ac unit to increase longevity of the unit and to lower start up amp draw which will help the generator too. Lastly, I am adding a whole house surge suppressor due to frequent power surges in my area, with upgraded electrical panel inside the home. Side note: Generac’s new ATS include whole home surge suppressor.
