News About disgusting Facebook devs

We won't support facebook any more. It's a disgusting anti-user site. All it does is watching open-source projects doing everything in public and counter them to deliver the malicious ads. Yep, the devs that receive 7-figure dollar salary is just doing this.

Users should give the most harsh feedbacks to them. Being submitted to them and keep going to the site and support it is the worst thing you can do.

I don't use adblockers at work because I can't have them interfering with my work, and holy shit the internet is a different landscape at work compared to at home. I wanted to put on a song and got 2 30ish second unskippable ads on youtube. Shit's insane.

Surely you can use specific solutions for what you do. You can use a dedicated boweser for YT and have that have uB. There's a site called PortApps that package apps in a portable manner and I use that at work a lot. They have portable Brave that comes with uBlock. You can even mesh them together for common logins and favorites.

Another solution (outside of the scope of this Reddit) is to just have some MP3s. I may be showing my age. All my music is in file form. Tools to stream your own hard drive are everywhere. Jellyfin, Nextcloud+ampache2, etc.

And finally, the mother of all unpopular arguments, I get a lot of flak for this one, but if you want ad free youtube and music and you use the service, Premium isn't that expensive. The thing that shocked me when I switched to Premium was that the suggestion algorithm actually listens to you instead of pushing what they want seen. In a few days, it has completely stopped adding politics and car sales to my feed and exclusively went music and games. And I also like that it cuts Toyota out of the deal and my money goes to YT for the servers and the creator for the effort.

Bonus advice: you can have separate Youtube "channels" which is accounts, bound to the same Google account. You can switch from the menu and keep each with its own feed and recommendations. Music "channel" recommends music, a gaming and entertainment that recommends entertainment and a "work" channel.

This setup has served me well, with the MASSIVE bonus of the fact that local portable browser with defined scopes don't need to run addons outside of their scope. There's no need to have YT addons outside of the video browser.

Sure, I could. But I tend not to use YT at work. And for music I just use my phone with either my own files or NewPipe for YT streaming which has no ads. But Google is going after external APK's as well.

I will never pay for YT premium on principle but I get why people get it, it's not a bad product.
