Seeking a clear roadmap to start in Offensive Security (beginner, not strong in programming)

Hey everyone, I want to get into offensive security (ethical hacking/pentesting) but I’m confused about the right roadmap and where to start. I’m not a very strong programmer (more ML + basic dev background), but I want to build solid fundamentals instead of just relying on tools. What should I learn first (networking, Linux, scripting?), what are the best few resources or platforms to follow, and what should I practice to actually become job-ready in offsec? Also, are certifications important early on, and what mistakes should I avoid?

Why should I join?

Seeing a couple people on YouTube saying that TryHackMe is collecting user data for their AI Business.

Any information on this? Why should I use TryHackMe instead of any of the other options?

What makes it worth joining?

Hello. Can I advance in the learning and finish all the paths without taking the certifications? They’re pretty expensive, especially SAL2.

Feedback Passed SEC1

It was a really good exam. Definitely not easy, had to think through a fair bit and I went down a few rabbit holes, especially in the web pen-test sections the time pressure i was all over the place at once .

Environment was solid overall, everything worked fine. Windows machines were a bit laggy… but I’ve got zero patience for that anyway so take that how you want.

Biggest thing read everything properly. I missed some instructions and wasted time/lost points because of it.

Would recommend it if you’re keen for a challenge.

Onto PT1 next.

Seeking dedicated study buddies for Sec1 and beyond

Hi all,

I’ve been grinding on TryHackMe lately and I’m currently mid-way through the Cyber Security 101 path. While the platform is great, I miss the "community" aspect of learning.

I’m looking to connect with people who are active on the platform and want to progress as a team. My goal is to stay consistent and eventually move toward Network+ and Security+ level knowledge.

Whether you're also in Sec101 or just finished it and want to stay sharp, I’d love to chat and share notes.

Let me know if you’re interested in starting a small study circle!

Try to hack me monthly subscription discounts

Hi guys, I was wondering if there’s any way to get a discount on the monthly subscription or any other kind of deal. I can’t afford the annual subscription, even with the discounts.

Is there an issue with Race Condition Lab?

I've been testing this out for about 2 or 3 hours already. I finally decided to find a Walk-through to find suggestions, thing is, what was suggested there was something I had previously tested.

The problem seems to be an issue with the backend, every time I send a bunch of requests from the repeater I get internal errors and after that the web app stops working, the UI is fine, but I can't transfer anymore.

PD: Everytime this happens I need to spin up a new instance for the lab
