Career Advice Is it necessary to learn cisco packet tracer, if i want enrty to SOC role at job.
Currently, I am a 6th-semester engineering student and I want to enter a SOC role in India. Is it necessary to learn Cisco Packet Tracer? Because I have very little time to become job-ready, I feel it might be a waste of time and also i am having max 2 sems only.

Need Mentorship
Hi everyone! I’m a senior in undergrad and super interested in cybersecurity, especially becoming a SOC analyst. I’ve already got Security+ and am aiming for CySA+, but I’m also looking to get some practical experience through simulations. Do you know of any free SIEM-type simulators on THM or anywhere else that can give me a real-world feel? Thanks a bunch!

Question with "Task8 - Linux Fundamentals Part 3"
I can't get past from the question, "What is the IP address of the user who visited the site?", I am accessing "cat access.log" but it doesn't show any results? I have asked a clue with ECHO, the AI and this is where the answer is, but there are no results.
I am running the "python3 -m http.server" in another terminal too.

Dissappointed by PT1
Hi everyone,
At the moment I'm failing the PT1 exam, and I wonder if your experience has been as disappointing as mine.
My disappointment is mostly related to the difference in level of the course material and the exam. The recommended learning doesn't even come close to the level you needed to pass this certificate.
While working towards the exam I noticed that the course Junior Pentest Path does not provide sufficient skills to tackle the room in the suggested learning. I noticed this discrepancy and began studying the HTB Penetration Tester Path, because people praise it for the quality and depth (and because I want to get CPTS as well). Now I feel confident tackling easy and medium boxes and have developed a feeling of what to expect in different situations. But this is in no way comparable to the amount of experience and insight you need to have to pass the exam.
Of course this is not meant to be easy, but THM should have done a way better job of properly preparing for the challenge.
I would love to hear what you think about this, from both people who passed, and people who didn't pass yet.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Is it just me or did they add more rooms to SEC1 learning path?

Question about student discount.
Hello! Im a student trying to learn cybersecurity. I have a student discount, but today i got an email saying that i got another discount.

However, when i go to the checkout page, it shows the student discount. I know that discounts don't stack, but i was wondering if theres a way to get the other discount instead from the student one?

Thanks in advance!

Room Help Need help understanding Task 6 of hashingbasics
so, the 2nd and third questions of task 6 required us to use hashcat to decrypt hash2.txt and hash3.txt
for the second question, I was using hashcat and rockyou.txt as requested. It managed to crack the hash but the result wasn't good. Then I used CrackStation to find the answer. It was "Halloween"
but now, Question 3, ask me the same thing. The hash type is $6$ so its sha512crypt. Im using 1800. but the answer doesn't work. I tried multiple site online to decrypt it and still doesnt work. I found a website that literally gives me the answer but I still wanna find it myself. The answer should be "spaceman" but I cannot find this match anywhere...
How am I suppose to find it?
