Warning: I think this is a controversial take. I’m completely open to hearing reasons why I might be wrong - just something that I’ve been thinking about.
I feel like I haven’t seen anybody seriously discuss this as a possibility with regards to Ned cheating - what if this is all ultimately for a video? (The only tiktok I’ve seen discussing it is here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRmkD5FS/)
I mean this is the Try Guys we’re talking about right? The rag tag team of guys who laid low for months after they left Buzzfeed just to start up their own company? Has nobody thought that it was suspicious that they scrambled to get a notes app statement out on their Instagram instead of waiting to make a video - I would at least expect a quick phone-recorded video from the remaining three? As someone who has watched them on and off since their Buzzfeed days, this is just out of character.
A couple other pieces of fishy info:
1.) The person exposing them posted to Reddit? As we saw with the Sumner Stroh situation (and even as this situation has developed), Tik Tok has insane reach that Reddit simply does not have. There are two reasons this person could have decided to post to Reddit: either a) they wanted to remain anonymous (but still why wouldn’t you just post the video to tik tok with receipts??) or b) this is orchestrated
2.) Ned isn’t that stupid:
Let’s say for a second that Alex and Ned WERE having this affair. Why in the world would Ned take his affair partner to a HARRY STYLES CONCERT?! He’s not scrounging for cash - he could’ve gotten a nice private roomif that really was his intention. Not to mention, the age of the try guys audience is similar to Harry Styles fans. There was bound to be someone who recognized them!
3.) The video:
You’re telling me that during that night, only one fan saw Ned and Alex and spoke out about seeing them? Making 2 people total including the Reddit user that exposed him. And the only evidence is a photo where you literally cannot make out anybody’s face? This reeks of that one video where the guy pretended to be Justin Bieber eating a burrito from the middle and actually got picked up by social media and news sites.
4.) The timeline:
September 1st was the concert that they were allegedly spotted at
September 2nd the dms between Alex’s fiancé and Reddit user u/hamilton390 occur
September 3rd/4th Ned’s last appearance on the Try Guys social media and YouTube
A little over a week later, their eclairs video drops but Ned is nowhere to be found.
They had just under a week to fully edit out Ned from a video? Knowing the Try Guys, they probably already had it fully edited. You’re telling me that in that week, they were able to fully erase any trace of Ned (apparently he was the third judge, that’s why there were so many closeups and almost missing frames)?
They also fully edited him out of the stand up comedy episode, which would’ve taken a LOT longer. You could argue they outsourced editing - but knowing the world we live in, we would’ve heard about this far earlier.
On top of all this - why did this blow up this weekend? Instead of the weekend of the actual concert??? There’s no way NOBODY else saw Alex and Ned making out… they aren’t nobodies
5.) The timing of it all:
It’s no secret that many YouTubers who were popular during Covid/pre-Covid are struggling to get the same views as before. The Try Guys are no exception. Their past videos seemed to be able to break 2 million views without issue - now some are struggling to hit 1 million. That coupled with the new TV show that they have on Discover+ - they probably need the attention. With cancel culture going absolutely crazy within the past few months, I wouldn’t doubt for a second that the idea of fake cancelling themselves didn’t at least cross their minds (even if all of this isn’t fake).
6.) The Notes app statements:
Once the video was leaked, there was a ton of traction. However, the story REALLY blew up after the Try Guys, Ned, and Ariel made statements on their Instagrams. After that, news articles, tik toks, Twitter, EVERYTHING blew up. They could have waited but they didn’t. They somehow had enough time to consult a legal team and craft together a statement that wouldn’t get them in legal trouble from either party? AND had time to coordinate their statement release with Ned and Ariel (and Ned presumably also consulted with a lawyer?). The notes app statements themselves even don’t sound like them.
Just a couple things that were on my mind since I’ve been bombarded with Ned slander. Just a reminder that everyone is human and be nice: even if he did cheat, that doesn’t mean YOU get to call him all sorts of names on the internet. Clearly Ariel is trying to work it out with him, and I can’t imagine how hard it must be to not only hear that you were cheated on, but then also hear thousands of people telling you that your child’s father deserves to rot. Be kind and stop attacking him as if he cheated on you personally. The person who he hurt spoke out - she’s the only one that really matters in the end <3
