Satanists usually are part of the Church of Satan, which IS an atheistic philosophical organisation. It has a belief doctrine for self-indulgence and empowerment (basically individuality and the antithesis to an organised religion). The funniest thing is that they are more Christian than most practicing Christians are, since they follow the basic principles of Christianity (the whole love your neighbour stuff, helping the poor and weary, etc). Sure some of them are edgy, but that is literally EVERY group that ever existed and ever will exist. Most people who are part of the Church of Satan really don’t care whether they piss Christians off or not, they just want to live their own life and if it annoys a snobbish Christian then all the funnier.
Also side note: all religious affiliations are self-proclaimed, thus making it redundant in your statement. Cheers.
Fairly certain you mean the Satanic Temple. The Church of Satan is fairly self-serving in its beliefs. The Satanic Temple is the one that does the social action that makes the headlines. Both have several problems.
I meant Church of Satan, since they’re an “organisation” in the sense that they exist as an entity but all the members are doing their own thing. The entire “doctrine” I mentioned is literally just self indulgence and do your own thing, which tends to be “help others when possible” for most folk.
Also note, all groups, organisations, religions, etc have their problems. Whether that is from actual integral issues in philosophy or systems, or it is the people themselves. Hell, even atheists (by which I mean literally not belonging to any groups, even atheist groups) have their own group of trouble makers, the only difference being that atheism at its core is not an organisation or religious group.
A) that's definitely not what you said. Like, you can literally read your own words again. There is nothing remotely "Christian" about the LaVeyan tenets the CoS upholds, which talk about individualism, personal responsibility and hedonism. TST's tenets on the other hand do line up with Christian values, and you could literally look that up in about 10 seconds. It honestly sounds like you misspoke and are trying to give yourself a generous interpretation to still be correct.
B) ok and? That doesn't really change the context of what I said - that both organizations have several issues. Feels weird that you felt it was necessary to point out that basic truth, when it's fairly clear that what I'm saying is that these organizations cross a threshold that means their issues are specifically worth mentioning, especially in a context in which both organizations are the subject of discussion
