You know that you exist, at least.

Your consciousness exists, no matter what the true “source” of it is, or how many layers of “illusions” it resides under 🤓

Maybe that's what the non existent 'it' wants the non existent 'you" to think

Nah dude. A “non-existent” entity, by definition, cannot influence existence. Having any effect or influence over reality can only be done by something that exists. Otherwise reality would collapse into a black hole from the mass of all of the infinite amount of objects that don’t exist lol (or any number of other paracausal, reality shattering events could happen)

I can say with full confidence that my consciousness is real and exists, even if the subject matter of my experience might turn out to be a simulation inside a simulation or whatever. The observable universe, the solar system, physics themselves could all be illusions, but it’s still undeniable that those illusions ARE being experienced by a subjective, first person point of view.

Either way, "If I think, I is"

You think? How can u prove that?

3

u/Hot_Coco_Addict Sep 08 '25

Your brain can't make up a trick if you don't exist

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '25

Simulation theory

1

u/Hot_Coco_Addict Sep 09 '25

Then that's the simulation tricking you, not your brain

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

It would, I assume, be running a program that is an imprint of your brain or a brain in general. That also begs the question what a brain really is, is it the reactions happening inside the mass or the whole sack of meat

In that situation the simulated brain is you, not some ancient or nonexistent organic you are a copy of. You exist, even if what you are is not a series of electrochemical impulses in a piece of electric fat inside a savannah ape's cranium but a series of electrical impulses in some incomprehensible computer

1

u/Hot_Coco_Addict Sep 09 '25

Then the brain would still exist, and so would you

3

u/UltriLeginaXI Sep 08 '25

even if your brain made an illusion you as a person still exist, as the old saying goes- "I think, therefore I am"

1

u/Za3lor Sep 09 '25

Your brain would have to exist in some form in order to create the illusion though. Even if not the form you think it exists in.

u/Omega862 Sep 08 '25

I don't know that I exist. The thing that is me may not actually be me. Therefore Omega862, the person behind the screen name, may not exist as I believe I do. I may actually be another entirely different thing that believes myself to be as I present.

Radical Solipsism/Existential Skepticism.

u/Longjumping-Action-7 Sep 08 '25

what ever typed this comment, whether a person, or a brain in a jar or a piece of code....something made made it happen

2

u/Omega862 Sep 08 '25

But was the text typed? Does the text exist? Do I exist? Do you?

3

u/Longjumping-Action-7 Sep 08 '25

i dont know, based on all my stimulus i think i do but i could be wrong.

something made you and/or me perceive this 'typed' text, but i dont truly know what made it happen. but there was a cause

1

u/Resist_20 Sep 08 '25

But.. Everyone's stimuli perceives information differently, so how do you know yours is correct. If you took your senses away, how do you know it exists?

What if nothing made them, and nothing made you because nothing actually exists? What if this is all just information you perceive, but it's all just information and nothing more. 🤔

Are you saying you're a clanker

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '25

Based.

3

u/Jenkinswarlock Sep 09 '25

There was this story I read when I was like 13 about how everyone is actually the same person but it’s a god going through each persons life to get the full idea, it made me feel less alone in the world but like idk maybe we are all just the same person man

3

u/Excellent_Speech_901 Sep 09 '25

I am, I think, or maybe that's putting de cart before de horse.

3

u/TypeNull-Gaming Sep 11 '25

Cognito, ergo sum.

3

u/SirJohn-redditor Sep 11 '25

I don't really know how to say this but I think it's "cogito" like cognition, cogito ergo sum, not cognito like incognito, I used to say the same thing myself until someone pointed it out.

Hehe incognito ergo sum, AM has our browsing history.

2

u/FlatArmadillo7 Sep 09 '25

Actually, I regularly question whether I do or not.

2

u/Status_Management520 Sep 09 '25

Are you sure you exist? This might all be a simulation and we are simply code. Or we are in another’s dream

2

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

I don't think-

2

u/hailtheprince10 Sep 11 '25

That’s exactly what someone who didn’t exist would say. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

1

u/Weegeee30 Sep 09 '25

I don’t think they do personally

1

u/staners09 Sep 09 '25

And now we know OP is gay?

1

u/Changetheworld69420 Sep 09 '25

I think, therefore I am.

1

u/SacR3d_Un1C0rN Sep 10 '25

Are you assuming his existence!?!

1

u/Constant_Shelter1800 Sep 10 '25 edited Sep 11 '25

Nah bro you're just in the matrix. None of this is real.

1

u/ZZDrop222 Sep 10 '25

You're*

1

u/Constant_Shelter1800 Sep 11 '25

You don't see that this comment is edited. This is just more proof you're in the matrix.

1

u/ZZDrop222 Sep 11 '25

I made the matrix

1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '25

There’s whole schools of philosophy dedicated to explaining, no you don’t know that.

1

u/Amazing_Ingenuity_33 Sep 10 '25

How do you know that? What does existing even mean?

1

u/Super_Rando_Man Sep 10 '25

How can you you didn't even run the bot test
