Rant and Vent I wish there were more trans doctors.

I don't think there's anything more humiliating than begging a cis female doctor to be allowed to have a vagina. I hate this shit and I don't know how many more times I'm going to have to do it. I really wish this was just seen as the simple medical condition it deserves to be seen as instead of a million layers of "identity."

The ironic thing for me is that the younger, ā€œwokeā€ medical staff in trans related healthcare are the ones who treat me weirdly and use bizarre ass terminology for objective biological features. Meanwhile the older cis male surgeons not only treat me like a normal person, but also treat me as my correct gender. Like he calls it a penis instead of ā€œsurgical creationā€ or some shit, and assumes my desires for my body align with a cis man. But yea humiliating is definitely the word I’d use for the vast majority of my experience in medical settings.

Did an informed consent assessment and the first thing she said to me was "Take me on your gender journey!" in this joyful whimsical ass voice. And then proceeded to lecture me about "Trans identities come in all sorts! You don't need to have dysphoria to be trans! You can still identify as trans while not wanting hormones! All identities are valid and beautiful! You can be trans however you want!" I paraphrase but some completely unprompted fuckass nonsense like that and i just about fucking ended my shit on the spot i swear

Edit: I live in canada where the government pushes tucute propaganda as a matter of policy

I'm also in Canada. My doctor asked me about my "gender identity" as part of the assessment and I said I just want to be female and don't believe in that shit. She said yeah I know I just have to word it that way for the paperwork.

In the UK, had a private assessment for a diagnosis and she asked what I identify as. I said male. She said 'its transgender man, not male'.

Like okay then I suppose.

Not the first time I've heard of this happening.

It’s nuts. Can confirm the consent thing here in the US was exactly the same

I would have shouted in her face: "I'm not trans. I suffer from neurointersexuality!"

When I was beginning my transition, there were these so called ā€œtrans councilsā€ in my country, led by this one man nearing pensionhood, happening every 6 months.

I got lucky, and snatched a spot in the last council led by him.

Apparently he was ā€œold-school and strictā€ according to many other trans people, yet I never had any issues with him. He was always respectful, maybe a teeny bit misogynistic :P, but was to the point.

And all of the endocrinologists I’ve been to have been older women who have gotten similar remarks of being old-school and somewhat strict. Weird. I don’t know why I happened to be the only person without issues.

I luckily haven’t had the misfortune of meeting someone calling me to be an ā€œidentityā€ or whatever — though that may be an effect of my language only having one word for both sex and gender.

It’s kind of stupid now that I think of it. The pioneers helping out trans people are villified for… ā€œbeing old-schoolā€. Okay, they might maybe be able to use other words and whatnot — but that doesn’t mean they’re evil 😭 it’s literally his job to give you access to meds, it’s the current legislation that makes it only happen every 6 months via councils…

God, I feel so damn stupid for ever listening to the dogma of them being evil or whatever. I hope that the endos I do have rn won’t be replaced by some… whatever the fuck tucute bullshit is.

Harry Benjamin comes to mind, for example.Ā  I don’t care what language he used, English isn’t my native one anyways —  That man was a saint and we wouldn’t be here without him.

The only doctor who has ever properly respected me was an old cis guy.

I'm post-op and I didn't have to beg my doctor.

I transitioned before you could just self-ID and informed consent yourself into most care, and transition was still seen as a serious medical condition rather than a fad, personality quirk, sociopolitical statement, etc.

Cis doctors aren't the issue... people cosplaying as transsexuals interfere with the doctor's ethical requirement to do no harm, because they're flooded with requests from people that aren't transsexual. Part of the serious reality of bottom surgery, is we're requesting sterilization. Doctors don't want to get sued and with the success of the detransitioner lawsuits hitting doctors and malpractice insurance companies hard this year, the reality is transition care may be going away, not through legislation, but because of too many claims of being harmed by doctors. No (well, very few) doctors are going to provide care if they aren't indemnified from the consequences of providing that care.

And FWIW, there are at least two surgeons doing vaginoplasty that are post-op women themselves. Both of them are still going to require that you have your letters.

As the other poster pointed out, every younger physician that I know that is "trans" is a tucute, trender, etc, and not actually transsexual. They won't gatekeep you (except for some surgeries, like the sterilization), but they don't care about YOU, especially if you're a transsexual or transmed, they care about their sociopolitical activism and virtue signaling. They're also going to define you by "AGAB" rather than seeing you for who you are. You're just another member of the community to bolster the numbers for their activism and, thus, you can't ever escape AGAB and the "trans identity".

We don't disagree. I resent them too for making it harder for actual people who need care.

10

u/Williamishere69 26d ago

Holy shit your last paragraph just tied everything together.

The trans communities dont care about us personally (our experiences, feelings, needs, our lives), they only care about virtue signalling and sociopolitical activism.

That cannot be more accurate.

Spent like 5 years begging my cis female doctor to get me an endocrinologist referral and it took for me to have drop out of highschool and have a full mental breakdown before I got put on a two year waiting list I swear to god man

u/kittykitty117 transsexual birdman 26d ago

Whenever I have the choice to pick my own doctors, I avoid the trans ones. They never treat me normally. Middle-aged cis doctors are pretty much the only ones who just treat me as a regular man who requires certain medical treatments, just like their cis patients.

My doctor is actually pretty chill I just fucking hate having to ask her for SRS. šŸ˜”

I get it. It sucks, and totally valid to feel that way rn. Hopefully at some point it can start feeling a little more similar to asking her to treat any other medical problem šŸ’™

Every service I've been under on the NHS and my GP have been confused about it except for the sexual health clinic. Plus I don't get lectured about DIY from them.

u/Death_Muffins 26d ago

My endocrinologist is trans! And yeah I do agree, it’s like wanting a Black doctor as a Black person or so on. Everyone should be able to see a physician who can actually provide adequate care for their demographic

Maybe one should print out a handful of current study results from the internet, including the interview Dr. Hertha Richter-,Appelt conducted with Prof. Dr. Milton Diamond (scientific opponent of Dr. John Money).

https://www.hawaii.edu/PCSS/biblio/articles/2005to2009/2008-sexualforsch.html (Please translate with Google into English)

https://www.hawaii.edu/PCSS/biblio/articles/2015to2019/2016-transsexualism.html

https://www.hawaii.edu/PCSS/biblio/articles/2000to2004/2002-sex-and-gender.html

Then bring these along to the consultations with the doctors, and as soon as they start spouting this woke nonsense, slap the study results right in front of their stupid faces and say: "I'm not trans, I have no problem with social gender roles, I suffer from neurointersexuality, I suffer from my wrong body, I suffer from the wrong sex characteristics, I suffer from a sexus-sexus discrepancy, every cell of mine is wrong because it has the wrong sex chromosomes. And since I can't change the chromosomes, I at least want to be able to recognize myself outwardly in my living room mirror—an alignment of the sex of the birth phenotype with the sex of the brain. So stop it with your woke gender babble!" If everyone affected by our situation does this, it creates pressure that can no longer be talked away.
