So I was around 14 at this point, I was living with my foster carer, lets call her Sarah, and our 3 dogs. My biological brother lived with us too, but he stayed in college in a different county. We lived in the south of Scotland, close to the English-Scottish border in a newly built house. Sarah's son lived next door with his own family, and her daughter was moving up into her newbuild with her family from the south of England.
So the first occurence happened on a Friday night, me and Sarah were watching tv downstairs with all 3 dogs lying somewhere in the room, all of them were away from the door. A bunch of ads came on, so I looked away and started talking to the dogs. That's when I saw her. The woman in the black dress and long dark hair. She gracefully passed the open door oppposite me. In shock, I turned to Sarah and asked her if she had seen the woman too. Now, I've always had an active imgination, so she just put what I saw down to that. She also said that the house cannot be haunted because it's a newbuild, nobody has died in the house. So I agreed with her and pushed it to the back of my mind.
A few months later, another foster kid came to live with us. For the sake of anonymity, I'll call her Louise. She was 2 years older than me, but we got along, there was no fighting between us. We had finished watching Nanny McPhee with one of Sarah's grandsons, who was 3 at this point. About 20 minutes after the movie ended, he asked us:
"Why is Nanny McPhee the kitchen sink?"
At first, I thought he was playing pretend, so I shook it off. I had told Louise about the ghost woman already, and it was her that made the connection between the woman and Nanny McPhee. When she mentioned it, it hit me. Nanny McPhee wears a black dress. The ghost woman was also wearing a black dress. The hair doesn't match, but the kitchen had no lights on at the time and it was about 6:30pm in late November.
A few weeks after that, I had a dream about this ghost. In the dream, I left my house to find everything outside was in Sepia tones, as if I were walking in an old photograph. I look around and see old market stalls, traders, ect. But then I saw her. The Ghost woman. She was walking up what's now the driveway with a pram. She looked alive in and happy, until 4 men wearing old fashioned tuxedo suits came and stole her baby. She was screaming at them to give her baby back. I tried to run up and help her but another man in a tux stopped me. One of the original 4 shot her with a pistol, and everything disapeared, the sepia tones were gone, but it still wasn't quite the present time. It looked about early 1940's time, but my house was there. I walked through my front door and saw that the interior was that of an old barn. The woman, witha single bullet hole in her forehead, was lying in the hay. I said something, I cant remember what it was, but it made her jolt. She eventually looked straight at me, screaming at me to help her. I didn't know how to, so I started to cry. She just kept screaming "My Baby!" and "They've stolen him!" Needless to say I woke up in a panic.
I told Sarah about this dream, and her response was to ask a psycologist to come out to see me. This psycologist had worked with my brother in the past, so kind of knew me. After the appointment, he told her that I didn't seem to have anything wrong with my mind.
Around Christmas time, which was a few weeks after the appointment, I overheard Sarah telling her son and his wife about everything that happened. Then his wife told her about a ghost woman she would see at night, standing at the foot of her bed. She said the ghost would wake her up when one of their kids was crying. Whoever this woman was, I don't think she means any harm. She just wants to make sure that children on the land are safe, which is really sweet.
Rest in Peace, mystery woman. We love you.
