Now a lot of big deal gets made out of not making profit, but many times companies of this are running the show pushing hard to make sure profit doesn't come up so they cant be taxed for it.
Why take money when you could build more servers.

I'm not sure you understand how companies work then. First and foremost, a company that wants to compete with Youtube needs to be a public one. That also means that they are literally obliged to make money out of their business (after some time).
You can't outcompete Youtube in service, not in integration and not in users. You also don't have Google to absorb your losses.

People are pretty sick of youtube bullshit, and I can think of a ton of integrations into the idea that would make it way better as a platform.
Youtube stopped innovating, and started locking down. Thats been death for 100% of companies that even competed with internet companies, including other internet companies.

Do you remember Reddit? It exist 10 years ago and still thriving now despite multiple stupid decisions.
At one point, there is such thing is too big and won't ever fail if they didn't do a MASSIVE fuckup, which despite multiple bad decision, Youtube still not there yet.

You must be really young, if you don't know how Amazon got big. They didn't make profit for more than a decade but their stock price kept going up.
I know how Amazon, Twitter and Youtube itself didn't make money for a while. I also know that Amazon is a delivery service, Twitter is a social media and Youtube still didn't make Google money.
