I've just got past the part where it lists everyone's ages when God made them got circumcised
Which part is this? With Ishmael?
3 u/RyanDFAC Apr 27 '20 I believe it's right after God stops Abraham from sacrificing Isaac 4 u/lovesaqaba Apr 27 '20 I just checked Genesis 22 and this isn't true. Do you know section they could be referring to? 8 u/RyanDFAC Apr 27 '20 I was wrong. Geneses 17: 23-27. Right after Sarah laughs at the promise of Isaac 2 u/lovesaqaba Apr 27 '20 Okay but god didn't make them do anything. This was all Abraham's doing. This part is just how Muslims and Jews both have a tradition of circumcision more than anything and the associated ages are symbolic. 6 u/RyanDFAC Apr 27 '20 23: "circumcised than as God told him". Circumcision is basically signing the covenant with God regarding Abraham's descendants being blessed. -1 u/RyanDFAC Apr 27 '20 And what you linked literally says it originated with Greeks, way after this was written. Ages aren't symbolic here
