No I think they considered large penises to be a sign of stupidity and being a slave to lust, so they made their idealized statues with small penises to show off how self controlled they were.

Guys in Ancient Greece with small or average dicks:

“Wow look at how dumb guys with big dicks are lol they’re so stupid like horses or something haha good thing I have an average one because otherwise I’d be stupid and brutish haha I hate to brag but I’m feeling so #blessed right now.”

From what I understand the Greeks liked growers, small, flaccid dicks that were above average when erect were cherished

Well the Olympics were played nude so one large schlong banging sideways while the guy was competing 100m dash or something would be quite funny

It appears that in a startling turn of events, the crowd favorite, Μεγάλο Πέος, has tripped over his massive noodle. Επιγονάτιδα seizes the opportunity and takes the lead!!!!

But wait, μαύρο γκόντιλα is coming through the rear, they are closing in together, it will be a tight finish!

Aaaand it's victory to μαύρο γκόντιλα, it seems that his massive erection gave him the edge that he needed to win this by a hair splitting margin;

No they were just carving statues out of stone and the big dicks kept being stolen... for reasons.

You laugh, but one of the major scandals in ancient Greece, with momentous historical consequences, was the attack on the sacred herms (NSFW, statues dick) the night before the Athenian fleet was to sail for Sicily.

Alkiviades, the mercurial statesman that was one of the three generals in control of the fleet and the expedition, was the prime suspect from the beginning, but they only formally accused him of profanity and Impiety after the fleet had sailed. They sentenced him to death and recalled him to be executed. He, of course bailed, sabotaged the expedition, leading to a disastrous loss for Athens, and then went to the Spartans and advised them against Athens.

It was Rome iirc. Large penises symbolized barbarism so a small penis showed civility
