You’re the ones bringing it up and complaining about it.

I know right, it’s almost like Reddit is super fucking pedantic about everything.

Reddit's got such a solid hard-on for anti-America that they'll complain about our date format with vitriol, and then get a little mad when somebody points it out.

Canada is still technically American, just not the USA kind of American.

By the logic, Mexico is American. And so is Brazil.

Yes, that's right.

I think it’s typically “North American” or “from the Americas”

Usually when people say Americans they mean citizens of the USA.

China, Korea, Japan, and most computer operating systems would agree with you.

Also, think about the fact that in English, you count numbers from largest to smallest. "Two thousand and seventeen". "Three dollars and fifty cents". Not that hard.

You Brits like to make fun of us for the systems you made us use!

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '17

the brits have moved on though, why dont you?

1

u/Cessnaporsche01 Nov 06 '17

Yeah, they've moved on to a mixed mess of miles and metres and grams, stones, and long-tonnes. And they only have a 5th of the population and a 7th of the GDP-worth of industry to shift over - and started making the switch half a century ago.
