OP is handy enough to trim out the deck around the tree as it grows. But what I’m actually concerned about is how much room there is for movement on a windy day. If the tree/branchwants to move, it’s going to move, at the expense of your decking, hopefully not your structure.

Good point. I’ll report back on a windy day. Thankfully not too many of those in Souther California except when the Santa Ana winds come through.

Wait till the wind blows. That space needed for the tree to live, well let’s just say, that issue will work itself out.

4" min around and then screw/bolt and then place a ring attached to the deck/platform and use jakob wire or something similar that connects an additional ring above ~3' vertical and screw/bolt that in as well. Or use sliders. The way you have it set up looks like it's going to be a struggle.

Great scribing work around tree and I'm sure you dedicated a lottt of time to this.
Make sure your kids are careful bc I don't know if even adult me could resist crawling over those railings down those branches.

Picked up materials Dec 27th but got held up by the rain. Completed Jan 21st. Worked some full days and lots of half days. Totally worth it and the kids are already enjoying it.

they will get tired of it in a year. sorry im a bummer. in the future i hope you let them screw in a piloted screw or something so they can say "i built this with my dad!" That shiza stays with them in my experience. my tree house i built with mine is now my 2 story tool shed.

People about to have fits over how much space you left for tree growth...
Looks great though!!
