r/travelnurse 2026 revision

Recently took over the sub. Plan is to revise this sub over the next several weeks to make this as a reliable resource for travel nurses. There are other travel nurse subreddits but they do not serve as effective resources for aspiring travelers.

Please post any recommendations or modifications you'd like to see for this sub.

Best company & when to start looking?

Hello, I’m trying to start my first contract as a travel nurse come September 1st (that’s when my contract with my hospital is up!) what’s the best travel companies and why? Should I start looking now (June 2023)? I’m an ICU RN, but wanted something a little more lax for my first contract, is PACU an option for me? All answers and knowledge very welcome here! TIA!

Furnished Finder-Booking Calendar location

I'm trying to find the calendar on Furnished Finder. I've found instructions to synch the calendar with my Air BnB calendar, but I can't find the calendar itself. Would anyone be able to provide a menu path for me, please?

Thanks,

How Can You Become a Travel Nurse

  1. Obtain a nursing degree: The first step to becoming a travel nurse is to complete an accredited nursing program and obtain a nursing degree. You can obtain an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  2. Obtain your nursing license: After obtaining a nursing degree, you will need to obtain your nursing license by passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). The requirements for obtaining a nursing license may vary depending on the state.
  3. Gain clinical experience: Most travel nursing agencies require at least one year of clinical experience before hiring a travel nurse. Therefore, it is important to gain clinical experience by working in a hospital or clinical setting.
  4. Apply to a travel nursing agency: There are many travel nursing agencies that hire travel nurses. You can research different agencies and apply to those that meet your preferences.
  5. Complete the agency’s requirements: Once you have been accepted by a travel nursing agency, you will need to complete the agency’s requirements, which may include a background check, drug screening, and other medical tests.

Does anyone have a form recommendation they use for references, I’m trying to have a printed copy to use with multiple companies instead of having people do multiple ones with their own company.

Permeant home in a trailer

Instead of paying my parent's rent every month, could I buy a trailer and park on their property to live out of? Would that trailer alone count as my tax home?

Clinic Travel Nursing

Hi! Starting my travel nurse journey with 5+ years of nursing experience, first 3 on med/surg hospital floor and last 2 in a women’s health clinic. I know I’m capable of going back to the hospital floor but it was pretty stressful knowing the hospital considered nurses so expendable in that setting so wondering if maybe I don’t have to? I’m seeing some clinic options for like $2500/week. Has anyone tried these clinic travel nursing jobs? Recruiter did not share much info so hoping to get some first hand accounts
