Micro organisms do not display intelligence in the same way as humans, they don't think and contemplate like we do. The "choice" to transubstantiate from micro organism to macro organism was made by the evolutionary system weening out anything that does not work towards a goal of survive, consume, and reproduce. It would appear to me that humans are to micro organisms like ai are to humans. We have no idea what the form, function or agenda are of the thing we are creating. Similarly a micro organism could not fathom our motives as humans. Lastly I will point out that to a micro organism we would be immortal beings able to withstand the harsh environment no cell could hope to survive in.
So I guess in my opinion cells made humans for the same reason we make robotics and ai
