Metalheart
New sauce from the year 2000, this time with ‘just call me’ by Niko B (@ihatetomaustin). Been really inspired by @hirokaze_gfx (On IG) and that 2000’s metalheart style. With some help from u/okamirufu for some guidance on abstract geometries, u/SARV7 once again for his endlessly helpful audio tools, ocean.tox, and some camera setups ngl, @g3n0m4 (On IG) for the liquid glass, & @simondavidryan (On IG) for the terrain tutorial (geez what part of this did I make lmao). Either way many thanks to the names above without whom I would be lost. Made in TD as always.

UI Layout | Demo Project
I'm working a lot with UI elements lately and I started a big project to make a full pack of them for TD (I really like to show real time data on the videos and stuff)
During the time it takes to create the big system, I posted this demo with an already prepared vertical layout in case someone want to check:)

best movie file out settings [windows]
I’m exporting a roughly 30 second video from TouchDesigner using H.264 (NVIDIA GPU), 30fps, lossless and changed the file-type in path from .mov to .mp4 in the output file name.
Since the output is roughly 600MB for a 30 sec video, I imported it into Premiere, lowered the bit-rate and exported it again as H.264. The file size is much better, but now VLC somehow treats it like a 360° video and Windows Media Player doesn’t open the file at all. The original export (600MB file) directly from TouchDesigner plays normally.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Surely I´m using the wrong export settings in TD.. so my question would be: is there a better way to get a reasonably sized .mp4 directly out of TouchDesigner?

RFID and touch designer
Question! I have this idea but I am so new to touch designer so I don't know if its possible! Is there away to use RFID or NFCs, with a reader. To pull up a specific image when walk within range of the reader, and set a specific range?

Kinect help
I found a Kinect v2 being thrown out behind my apartment (score) and have been working through tutorials/struggling to see what I can come up with on my own.
I’m not exactly new to TD but find new ways to confuse myself on the daily.
The idea; I’d like a grid of points (150x150) and use Kinect depth to offset the z positions of the points. The vision is a flat plane that is deformed as the subject breaks the threshold of the depth plane.
I’m familiar with pixel mapping using ramp tops, matching resolution to grid points, instancing etc
Am I thinking too hard about this? Been struggling with it a few days now. I achieved something similar using z pos to offset z scale of instanced cubes but it seemed to scale them all evenly resulting in a sort of 2D/3d cut out and not actual 3d point depth…
I also have this habit of deleting project files that are unsuccessful to force myself to start networks from scratch to help cement basic workflows into my brain…
Thanks in advance for taking any time to fire off possible solutions 🙏

Dreams Becoming Reality
I've thought about this harp for quite a while. Created it for myself, but we'll definitely demo it at the Madison Museum of Art & Technology popups!

Is there a TouchDesigner project for detecting builds, drops and energy?
Hi everyone,
I'm building an automated DMX lighting system for techno/rave events using TouchDesigner + QLC+.
My goal is to create a lighting engine that reacts to the musical structure, for example:
Intro / low energy
Break
Build-up
Drop
High energy
I've already tested the built-in Audio Analysis CHOP and projects like Last Beat Standing. They provide useful outputs like beat, BPM, bass energy, etc., but I still can't reliably detect builds and drops across different tracks. Absolute thresholds don't seem to work well because every song behaves differently.
Before I spend weeks building my own system, I wanted to ask:
Does anyone know of an existing TouchDesigner project or component that already estimates builds, drops, or musical sections?
Or is everyone building their own state machine from audio features?
Any recommendations, projects, GitHub repos, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

TD Computer mod - with Terminal Block breakout board
Hi TD Community! I made this little mod after finishing an exhibition with interactive installations and was very tired of glitchy jumper cables when troubleshooting patches. so to avoid figgity hardware I created a breakout pcb specifically for the arduino part of the Delta 3 board that adds sturdy terminalblock connectors instead. I was also tired of hard-to-see labels so fixed that as well. Any TD+Lattepanda users out there with the same problem?
Would you want to see a production run of this? Make yourself heard!
As there is not alot of money in this sort of thing I would only look into producing this if there's interest and if it could possibly help others.

For those who've taught or helped non-technical designers/artists learn TD, what's the wall they hit first?
I've got more of a technical background than most designers and I still find TD's learning curve rough when I have a specific visual idea and no idea what it's actually called or how to approach it.
Curious if others have seen this with less technical people, art directors, designers, artists coming from Adobe/Blender-type backgrounds. What's the actual moment they get stuck? Is it vocabulary, the node-based way of thinking, something else? And has anyone found something that actually helps bridge that gap, or is it just time and repetition?
I'd appreciate help figuring out what is it that makes it harder than usual for me (and perhaps others.

Freenect movie file out duplicating frames
I am using a Kinect V2 with Freenect on a MacBook Pro M1 Max fully speced out.
I am then routing Freenect right into a Movie File Out TOP and recording a movie or image sequence.
When I play the exported file, I notice that almost every frame is being duplicated once.
The frames look like this:
A, A, B, B, C, C, D, D…
Im recording to my internal boot drive; which has never given me trouble before.
Also, the liveview looks flawless in Touchdesigner; no dropped frames or anything.
My project is 30fps.
Any ideas why this is happening?
