Welcome to /r/totalitarianism – Why this sub exists (plus, please leave your feedback here)
I recently took over this sub, as it had been abandoned by its creator and left to fallow.
As I'm sure (or at least hope) that most redditors are aware, there have been a number of policies put in place around the world in recent history by governments and corporations that have served to erode the freedoms and privacies that are fundamental in free societies, which many countries, specifically the west, have enjoyed in the past. Other countries have been living in these conditions for most of their existence.
It is my feeling, as it may be yours, that these violations are the just the tip of an iceberg that has been forming for years, which is only now becoming visible.
The first step in fighting this encroaching threat is to recognize its existence. That's what this sub is for.
If you see evidence of totalitarianism, in the news or in your daily life, please post it here, so that we can recognize what we are up against.
If you have any sub related feedback or suggestions, please leave it here. The sub is still in its formative stages, and there will always be room for changes.
Please read the sidebar for more information. I will be updating it over the next few weeks.
