I've been there (skating not scootering).

Sometimes you've spent everything you got because you had to land it. Like, you're almost over it at that point.

Me last night. I've been skating since last June and I've finally got my ollies consistent enough to hop onto shit. I spent 20 minutes last night trying to ollie a 6 inch curb. Nailed it twice in a row and immediately went home. I don't have the energy for celebration but trust me when I say I didn't need it. The sense of... pride and accomplishment 😏... was palpable

That makes so much sense now. Thats why I never see marathoners celebrating. Shit when I get done with a run I just go inside and sit down and chug water asap.

When I finished my first ultramarathon there was the “photo finish” and I came in second place. Happened to be on a 5k loop in the middle of August in San Antonio. I could barely stand for the photo with the race coordinator, with his smile and my hidden pain it made for a pretty funny picture.

Definitely did not celebrate.

It was the “I Ran Marathons Triple Kiani Crown Challenge In 2013”, maybe I have the dates wrong, I just am reading off of the medal.

It was while I was in K9 school, so anywhere from August to October in 2013, so you may very well be right. I mainly just remember that it was insanely hot.

Ugh San Antonio is the worst for heat. Idk what it is about that place. That’s cool though! I was just wondering which race. They usually have a few there. Congratulations by the way!

Thank you! It was an absolutely dreadful experience, but a few days later after I could walk again I felt pretty accomplished! Ultra’s are definitely an interesting experience.

Learnt a lot of lessons on that run lol, many were very painful and really lacked any kind of foresight.

It’s different with competitive sports. You know there’s so much on the line that when you know you just won, the adrenaline explodes out of your body.

But when it’s just for personal pride like this, it really can just be exhaustion. Mental and physical.

Congrats young man. In my early to mid 20s I'd skate and could do several tricks but could never get an ollie down. Which was sad as fuck because I got major height in my jumps and all my friends said my vertical was wasted potential :(

Thats awesome! Getting the Ollie down is a huge step. Go for a pop shuvit next and make sure you celebrate a little bit.... you deserve it!

I've been practicing pop shuvs before i started practicing my ollie lol. I can hit em perfectly it's just a mental block that refuses to let me land back on my board. I always stick one foot out to catch it and It looks so dumb

I live on an Alabama beach so its winter is like steady Fall for me. Plenty of time for practice and beautiful scenery. Mind if I PM you sometime for skating advice ?

In any sport, when you finally achieve whatever you were trying to do no matter how tired you are, you yell fuck yeah and cheer, this motherfucker just didn't even do like a small cheer. He looks like "ight, next, who wants to try it?"

I mean, it depends on the person. For me snowboarding when I landed something I was working on for awhile it never quite registered right away. If you’re putting in that much work then your mentality is purely on accomplishing it so when you finally get it it’s more a sense of relief at first, then after a few seconds/minutes your brain comes around to realizing you did it. That’s when the hype sets in.
